    1. Do you wave at other Motrcyclist?
    2. Is avoiding the Police the same as running!
The 1st topic is just cause I know how annoyed some of you get at the constant barrage of us overly friendly dip sticks flapping our paws at you!
The second is because of the NY Motorcycle dragnet thread and the troll post in the basement last night.
Here is my question, If the Police are not right behind you lights and sirens blasting, but you know they are looking for you or pursuing you from a distance and you do not stop, is that running.
Here is a Hypothetical, You are enjoying a spirited ride on a limited access rural 4 lane Highway for around 20 miles , you slow for a small town, you pick back up on the other side of town only to see a State trooper in the slow lane hiding in front of a couple minivans, trooper slows to 60 in a 70 and allows traffic to go around until its just you and him. You move to the outside lane like your going to pass him, you can see him watching you in his mirror. At the last second you dive off onto a exit using your signal, get to the top of the ramp and turn across the highway and move on, but you also notice the trooper dive into the medium, but because of the hill from the ramp you can't see if he comes out of the median. You then proceed down the hilly but fairly straight road to a very curvy road which you know you can take the 20 mph curves at the posted limit and that a Charger/Caprice/Ford Pursuit can not possibly make those kinds of turns because of the weight of those vehicles. Then as you are proceeding onto another road you notice almost a mile back through open fields the distinct profile of a police car proceeding at a high rate of speed. So you make another quick turn and head to the house and put your Motorcycle Quickly into the garage.
Is that running, He never had his lights on and he never actually saw you do something illegal or got you on radar speeding.

No it's not running. It's avoidance. Sometimes it just bothers you to have them follow you. It's not running if they're not chasing. Now and then I just like to put some distance between them and myself.

If the cop doesn't have his lights and siren running, how do I know what he's doing?

At that point, he's just another tailgating dickhead. I am much happier following cops...

It's a stupid poll if you can't give more than one answer.

Medium what? Or do you mean "median"?

It's not running until he has his lights on. I've never heard of "pursuing from a distance" usually they want you to pull over rfn. (right fucking now)

I did unintentionally run from a cop, at least I think I did, I never saw anyone behind me, nor heard any sirens until I was off the highway with my helmet off.

I have got out of a LOT of tickets in the past by dodging the police.
If I blew by one going the other way, I would make a bunch of turns onto all different streets.
I see no reason to make it easy.

I never ran when they lit me up, and one time I was out on my new 1986 883 sportster (in 1986) having a good time going 5 to 10 mph over, dodging in and out of traffic, just making the lights (but I did make it through before the red), then pulled off onto a slower road and did my 5 mph over and got pulled over.
The guy was VERY UPSET, said he was chasing me for miles and miles.
Another cop pulled up and calmed him down after I told him I did not know anyone was after me.
I got a nice ticket but not the cuffs/impound the first guy wanted to give me.

If I knew he was after me, I could have been long gone.

Where would you rather have an idiot?
Behind you (where they can run you over) or In front of you (where you can keep an eye on them)?

car94 I'd rather have you in front of me. Why? Because of your poll with 2 questions, a few answers but we can only select one answer?

    One question = 1 poll.

Someone piss in your Wheeties this morning Dave?:lol3

Seriously, the poll makes no sense to me. As for the question, if the cop is not flashing lights, he is not chasing you. If you manage to turn off and hide before he can find you, then either he isn't looking, or you were just taking the scenic route. You will not know which.:deal

OP......No lights means you have no idea what Mr.LEO was up to.
And judging by your poll, it seems you may not be firing on all 4 cylinders.
But that doesn't make you a bad person. :lol3

I do not suffer from the spastic arm syndrome commonly known as waving.

I would not stop for a motorcycle only check point as I believe it to be invalid.

    I don't run from LEO's

I do not consider trail enforcement to be LEO's

Motorcycles outnumber cars on Phuket roads by about three to one, so no, I don't wave. I'm too busy dealing with the crazy traffic anyway.

I usually only buy my oil out of some guys garage way out in the country, but sometimes I'll buy it off someone's tail gate. If it comes from a store, your motor is likely to lock up before the first oil change.
