Both bikes are similar...same engine, frame..etc...yet totally different at the same time...one's mostly for dirt the other one is for 'whatever'...There's so many posts about the xchallenge but none concerning the xcountry. I really love mine and have a blast everytime I get on it, no doubt about it. I want to see pictures of you riding your xcountry, mods you've done, etc...I haven't done much to mine besides a tail tidy, took of the useless canister, got a leo vince exhaust..I'm currently making a luggage rack and a skidplate out of sheet metal at school and will probably have them installed by next week (I hope) so pics of that soon but for now...: The beast: Some riding: Ok, let's see yours!
Nice action shots! And apparently, of the G650 trio, this X Country is the most popular, yet you don't see much of them here..
Nice pics! With some work the Xcountry would make a sweet touring bike, but I guess it ends up being almost a F650 then:huh
it is an airblade universal windshield. i like, but it does fit like a universal wind shield. a little to much gap around th head light.... it creates a small glare from the headlight. i am sure i can make something work to fix that. it was well worth the $60 i paid for it.... http://www.flyncycle.com/acatalog/Super_Fly_Screen.html sturdy fit, looks good, helps a little with wind... the handguards are for a KTM that i found NIB on sleaze-bay. $20 .. they also seem to be doing the trick... its been pretty cold and they block alot of wind. keeping my fingers crossed for a TT rack for X-mas.
Here's mine! I have only installed a tail tidy and stock X-Challenge skid plate. Doing an Akrapovic and cycra Pro-bends this winter.
Nice Robbie!! You gotta tell us more about the Akrapovic exhaust for the G650, didn't know it was available.. Keep it comin'
So i got the base cut, bent and mounted for my skid plate and tomorrow i'll be welding the side protection...I'll be posting some pictures tomorrow night.... The luggage rack is almost done too...Since I am welding it to the grab bars that come on the xcountry I'm going to have to cut out a piece of the front so that you can still take the seat on/off without having to take off the rack.
I think it's in the 650 Catalogue...I'll look. Wait....Here it is! Page 73 http://www.bmw-motorrad.com/com/en/index.html?content=http://www.bmw-motorrad.com/com/en/equipment/motorcycle_accessories/motorcycle_accessories_flashcatalogue.html¬rack=1
Well....here it is: Keep in mind, I am a rookie welder with limited experience but I have a great teacher. Mounts up nicely, I can tell there's a bit more noise coming from down there, not much but it just sounds different you know? I am happy with it It cost me roughly 15 dollars and a few hours of drawing and fabricating to make it. Oh yeah, this is probably about 90 % finished, I plan on adding some holes to the front so I can mount a tool tube up there. Any other suggestions?
Looks good In the last picture, I would round off the sharp 90 degree edge near the oil filter cover. Plus, the banjo bolt under the engine looks vulnerable if the bashplate flexes against it.. Maybe a rubber bushing of sorts that can be mounted around it to take he load now, get it painted and you're done
Gadget Boy's suggestions and a hole for the oil drain plug and I think you're good to go! Looks great!
Here's the finished skidplate and rack: I couldn't wait till the morning to take pics....sorry Any links to shops that sell good top boxes I could mount to this?
