Hello great nation of adventure motorcyclists, As my plans for my 4 month trip are coming together I think it is about time I stop lurking and share some of it with you inmates. Starting at the end of august I am leaving Amsterdam, Holland and heading through Germany, Poland, Ukraine, Russia, Georgia, Armenia, Turkey, Bulgaria, Greece, Albania, Montenegro, Croatia, Italy, France, Belgium and back home. Something like this: The Russia/Georgia border crossing is still uncertain but we will see how that goes the coming months. As I really have no ties or places to be at certain moments other then being back home mid December the route is subjected to change. My Girlfriend will probably join me for a few weeks somewhere along Turkey Some of the prep stuff I already put on my websitehttp://www.wolsly.com as the website is part of this prep it is still a work in progress since I have no experience with blogging/website building whatsoever. I am hoping for some input from you guys for must see's, places to stay and maybe meet up some of you somewhere along the way. Be save and lets have a few Cheers Wolsly
Hi Wolsly! Nog een mede-Nederlander hiero Awesome route! What kind of bike are you going to take on your trip?
Yesterday as my shift ends and my colleague for the next shift and I have a coffee before I leave he tells me about his brother planning a trip to Greece and filming it all. What about that Mr Cathalina.... I know Holland isnt big but hey isnt this coincidence or what?????. I own a 2002 R1150GS which will hopefully bring me all the way . Great job on your website by the way.
Hahaha that's extraordinary I believe he sent me a pic of your bike some time ago... dark grey, is it not? Are you going to change panniers or just leave the plastic ones on? I'm doing a small trip to Friesland tomorrow, and just now I'm noticing that extra luggagespace is something really worth having If you want, we could ride together some time and exchange experiences thanks for the compliment too!
My website went down this weekend, aaaggghhh..... forgot (and did not know how) to make a backup :dog Took the bike out this weekend, brought me al the way to Hamburg and back, great city by the way. And yes Mr. 13 lets meet up to have drink that would be great, maybe there are other cheeseheads out there that would like to join us? Cheers Wolsly
Speaking of cheese heads... It seems the entire country is going to ride and pillage Europe this summer. Keep us posted!
Pinksteren sounds fine. It'll be one day before my Alp is scheduled for its regular maintenance. It might be nice to have the bike desperately need it for a change
Last weekend I did some sort of a test run with the bike. As we did not did a proper long distance trip together she took me to Hamburg It was a bit wet out there but everything worked out fine.... And the website is back up. Cheers Wolsly
Been busy with visa applications, hyperpro springs, websites and oh yes my employer still wants me to do stuff and things. It seems that the border-crossing from Russia to Georgia is a go. Done a bit of this on the bike: The new fancy purple hyperpro hiding in the back. I guess "hemelvaart" is a bit out of the picture for the ADV cheesehead meet?? How about Saturday 7 or Sunday 8 of July? Wolsly
Well done on the progress! Like the DIY-thing going on there I got a tour coming up the 16th of June by the way, you're free to ride along Veluwe area. PM for details.
Wait and see what we had to do to get the rear spring done :huh I will upload a picture as soon as I can. During that weekend I will be at Hellfest in France enjoying some HeavyMetal and a hole lotta Wolsly
I've visted the Belgian festival of Graspop numerous times, they share most of the line-up with Hellfest. Keep up the good work
I got somesort of a logo done and had these things made. Sowed one of the smaller patches on the jacket And I also received some Russian paperwork With everything signed I sent it out to a visa agency, fingers crossed........ The website is done, I got rid off the last little bugs. We bought a plane ticket for my girlfriend to come over and join me for two weeks in Georgia and Armenia in October. The festival, last week, was great but due to time limitations we did not go by bike and I forgot my camera so no pictures... sorry Wolsly
Looking awesome! Where did you get those patches made (and more importantly, since we're Dutch, how much did it cost)?
Well have a look at: http://www.grafiekas.nl/ In total 130,- 4 x 12,50 for the small once (10 cm) 2 x 25,00 for the large once (25 cm) 1 x 30,00 for file conversion and the template It depends on the level of detail, how many stitches and stuff. Just sent in the "YourLogo.ai" file (adobe vector file) and ask for a quote. Say hello on my behave. Cheers
