    Hi Guys,

For the last 6 months I have been living and working in Antarctica. I miss my bike back home and look forward to my return to Australia where Ill be collecting my bike and heading to the America's.

I have spent many a night reading through the ride reports on this forum. I've been enjoying hearing about what is happening in the real world.

Well I know its not Adventure Riding but the sea ice down here is now thick enough to get out on our quads and do our field work. So I thought I'd share a day out on the sea ice here at Davis Station Antarctica.

So you know what I do im a diesel mechanic down here and look after the power house and machinery on station.

Here are a couple pictures and a small video of our day out.

We run 0W-40 in most of our equipment. The exception is in our power house where we can run a normal 15W-40 because we keep room at around 18c.

Adventure riders dream of getting to the ends of the planet...... few make this far. Thanks for sharing pictures of your current corner of the globe.

Just putting it out there. Would you guys like to see more of the area I work in?
I have not posted anything up here because as the thread says its ment to be Adventure Riding. I head out off station every couple of weeks for field work and have a lot of pictures of the landscape down here.

I thought Id share a couple pictures I took the other day while out trying to get shots of the aurora.

Brilliant...that must be an amazing feeling to ride your quads on the ice and snow.

Ahh...bugger it...I haven`t used my quad for nearly a year.
Time to get it MOT`d and taxed and get out on it.

Thanks for sharing your adventure and workplace with us. :freaky

It seems to me that an exception ought to be made for a place so incredibly hard to get to. Amazing photos.

So it seams like most are happy to see a little more of the frozen continent.
So why am I down here? I work for the AAD which means the Australian Antarctic Division and we are down here to support science. My roll is to maintain the power house that keeps the station powered with light and heat.
Is what makes it possible to live down here in temperatures as low as -60.

Im going to share the journey south to Antarctica on the icebreaker Aurora Australis. Its our resupply ship that travels down to each station once per year.
I left from Hobart Australia late last year.

Click on the picture to watch a time laps of the trip south.
