Too bad that the BCS is so restrictive. How great would these games be if we just took the top BCS rated teams and then made the best match-ups?

    Alabama vs. ND - MNC

    Florida vs. Oregon - Sugar

Georgia vs. Kansas State - Fiesta

    LSU vs. Stanford - Rose

Texas A&M vs. Oklahoma - Orange

This year, it would be SEC vs. the world, but isn't that what everyone wants anyway? :deal

I don't give damn about a playoff - but great match-ups at the end of the year should be the goal.

Interesting idea. How would you go about selecting it?
    National poll? Sports writers?

copy the NCAA FCS (1-AA) formula for a 20 team football playoff.

10 conference winners plus 10 at large is what they do.

so at FBS (1-A) it'd be 12 conference winners plus 8 at large.

and you could still have other bowls

I like, over what we have this year. Actually what I hate is the whole BCS. Either do a play off or go back to old school bowls.

I think it would have to be a selection committee of some sort. I just used the BCS standings because that's what we have now, but the coaches poll and castrated computer rankings are a bit of a joke.

The top tier bowl games should NOT be tied to conference championships, it's ridiculous to suggest that Wisconsin, Louisville, FSU, NIU and BSU deserve to get in just because they won their crappy conferences. The conference title is separate and should be incidental to the bowl selections. The SEC championship Game is already like a mini Super Bowl.

I like the idea of matching 1 vs. 2 so that we can continue to crown an MNC.

The above happened minutes apart from each other. I'm guessing Arkansas MUST have been going after Malzahn too. When they found out Auburn hired him, they pulled the trigger on their #2 guy, Bielma.

It was the opposite, Gus was waiting to see if AR would offer him. Soon as he found out we got Bret he accepted Allbarns offer.

Eh, the kids are still going to want to put forth the total effort. It matters to them.

Not how it usually goes down. You think Louisville is going to put forth a total effort against Florida without it's head coach? Hell, Wisconsin had no business in the Rose Bowl anyway this year.

EDIT: Crap. Now I see that Strong is probably going to stay with Louisville. I thought it was a done deal. So, scrap my earlier comment.
