Just found this when I was reading the new. Dont race another bike going 100 mph and hit a car head on. Damn, Whoever was in the car was lucky he didn't go through the windshield and kill them. Even though this was the cyclist's fault, I hope he gets well soon. That looks like a F650 GS, what do you guys think?? http://www.11alive.com/news/article...=F4UGRgAQmxtArGzpfeSzySIFaQoABJBIlQaEsJmDW9c=
Yeah, that does look like an F650GS, one of the newer (04 and up?) models. I don't know how a human body survives that kind of collision, but I wish the guy well. I do hope he's got the sense to take away a few good lessons from this.
Ya, you know that was a hell of an impact when you see the front of the car molded into the form of the motorcycle, it basically wrapped around him. I think he went flying over the top of the car and impacted on to the road behind the car as the windshield was not shattered, thus why he didn't die on impact. Shows how resiliant the bike is though, I figured that the front end would have been completely demolished, as in the bike would have no front end anymore. Again, hope he gets better soon, best wishes to his family
Unless it was in the middle of the night, I don't see how there was enough room on Buford Hwy for a F650GS to acellerate to 100mph. 75mph I could believe, but 100mph is crazy. That and Chain Ganger's are typically slow enough that I would be very very surprised if it was over 75mph and the bike wasn't stolen. F650's are very very rare around Atlanta, so it shouldn't be too hard to find out who it was.
I agree. Not to dog the bike or anything, but what bike could he have possibly been racing?? Our bike isn't exactly the racing kind, not on highways. Its not a torque monster, nor will the front end come off the ground if you gun the throttle without some help. But it is by far the most fun bike I have ever owned!!
It was in the wee hours of this AM, most likely leaving a club with a very recreational tone to it, he's a newbie rider and as far from an ADVRider type you could find. This isn't his first accident in under 2 months of riding. Very unfortunate, but not surprising to anyone who is familiar with the individual. As for the bike it was a 2007 F650GS with only a 1000 or so miles on it and already had a bent frame and subframe from a failed attempt at a wheelie the second week he had it. Unfortunate anyone else had to deal with the poor judgement. Hopefully Larry learns from this incident and can be a better person as a result. He has no next of kin, so he's kind of on his own.
Sounds like a young man who needs a good mentor.:huh He is lucky to be alive. Think he learned anything?
Lets just hope he stays alive, any info on that. He was in critical condition, which means that he could be a vegatable, lets hope not though and he pulls through to live another day.
I beg to differ, that looks like the back of a car, look to the bottom right, isn't that the tail pipe? Either end he did a lot of damage.
Excellent eyes, I just looked at it again, yup it was the back of the car. What could he have been doing not to have seen it? Seriously, either way a lot of damage was done. Anyone else think that he went over the car though? I believe that is the only way he could have possible survived
Definitely went over the car. Unfortunately Larry is not doing so hot, he is on life support and not responsive. At some point either as a result or which may have cause his lack of control he suffered an annuerism. I would tend to think the blunt force trauma of hitting the ground at 80 or some mph would cause that, but maybe he did black out at the precise time he came upon the rear end of that car. They are in the process of attempting to locate any next of kin and they may have found a step brother to give the ok to remove or continue life support.
