I only have one question. I thought the XLV was water cooled?

The XRV750 Africa Twin is water cooled.

Air cooled,dry sump,45 degree V,same bore and stroke as the XR750.The RS750 used 4 valve heads with front facing exhausts - the XLV750 used 3 valve heads with inlet ports in the centre of the V,and hydraulic lash adjusters.The XLV750 also had an offest crank giving 90 degree firing impulses and a shaft drive.

They just had to homogulate the cases...but I don't know why they never bothered to sell the homogulation bike in the US.That's the whole point of flattrack bikes isn't it? They are supposed to be based on a production bike,seems they totally missed the point by not giving US buyers the opportunity of owning.

With a life long interest in flattrack,owning an XLV750 was a high point for me.

We have had XLV in france... Heavy, to heavy for the time they sell il as off road bike. To many engines broken (crank), 2 diférentes engines : red ones, those who had crank problems, and after black paint engines.
Those engine brok had destroy sales and reputation

We only got the black engine model - I sold mine at over 90,000km with no engine problems what so ever.However I did burn out 3 stators and a couple of reg/recs.And I agree - far too heavy to take off road,even gravel was harder work than it should of been.

Is that the 800 twin?

I believe the Norton engine was a dry sump design and I believe thats where the oil was held in that frame( the back bone, plus in the single large front down tube ).

If it is .049 wall 2" tubing it would be just over 1lb per foot. Or only a tiny bit, as in grams heavier than 2 1" tubes. Take out the need for a tank and it is lighter and stiffer

I went to the GN Twins races last month in Tucson, and the Beemer sure sounded good, even though it didn't do as well.

There was a complete F800 engine, actually most of the bike on Ebay a couple of months ago. I was real tempted to just that, or maybe a little more of a super moto.......

I'm new to the forum, I just love Street Trackers. I going to try to attach a picture of "The Wronka Toy". My daily rider I built 10 years ago. My bike has the 750 big bore kit and a ton of other mods.

of course i know who kenny roberts is. i dont see any hot pink "street tracker" on that tank, do you? the old yellow/black/white yamaha scheme is definitely my favorite, that wasnt what i was talking about.
yeah, people will do what they will to their own rides. hot pink letters on a yellow tank is still cheesy as hell. /hijack...
