    Hi everybody.

Maybe i'm tone deaf. I'm trying to re-set my idle mixture adjustment on my r80g/s.

I've just installed larger size 45 idle jets.

I'm trying the snowbum technique starting further out, then 1/8 of a turn over 10 seconds.

i just dont really hear the slight change in rpm.

if i crank the screw in like 2 rapid half turns then i hear changes.

has anyone else faced this issue?

Sounds like you may need to strip and clean the carb body. When the idle jet mixture screws don't do anything it is normally due to dirt...

IIRC, about a half turn on mine cause large idle speed changes either way

For the 64/32/357-358 carbs, the Bing manual shows a 45 idle jet and 0.5 idle mix setting as base.

Oak was helping me do a carb sync once and that happened. He had me pull out the idle mixture screw and give the hole a squirt of carb cleaner. Fixed it right up and has done the trick for me many times since.

you don 't say @ what RPM your idle is? ?If you either have an intake leak,or the idle screw is turned up so you are drawing a good bit of air thru the butterfly, your air/fuel screw will do nothing,as it is the bypass air circut for when very little air is passing thru the plenum where the butterlly lives,!

The correct idle adj is actually where you find the highest smooth idle The book is just a starting point, not a set spot. thanx sasquash

Make sure there is some slack (2 or 3 mm at least) in the cables. If they're too tight, the idle screw is ineffective.
