I have a HH Safari and Expedition. We are heading out in the morning for me and my son's first hammock outing. We are using the HH tarps for now and Jacks R Better under quilts. I have already figured out that I need to purchase the JRB top quilts because my sleeping bags are WAY too bulky to carry on the bike.

Home built with cheap chinook diamond tarp and a nice 3/4 underquilt I bought off hammock forums.

I have a bunch of hammocks , but my Eureka is the only one that is a true hammock/tent hybrid. it's a bridge style and by far the most comfortable I have ever been in so far. The upper and lower storage is a huge bonus. The fact that the convertible rain fly is self contained and can be deployed at different levels while never having to get out is also nice. Awesome for moto camping. Quick, comfortable and adaptive. But it is heavy and packs big so it would not pull duty for backpacking. And it also has no pad sleeve and due to it's configuration I can't see a way to use an under quilt w/the rain fly deployed so forget about it it for cold weather.

There's a WB Blackbird hidden under the Big Mama tarp...really.

No pics but I have a Warbonnet Blackbird (WBBB) double layer 1.7 oz (yes I am THAT fat) with a Kelty 12x12 tarp. I am still sorting out insulation. Probably will end up with Kick Ass Quilts (KAQ Lost River & New River) for under insulation and Bear Burrito Oven top cover. Eventually my tarp will use Snake Skins for set up and take down.

The WBBB is a very well though out and crafted hammock that is made in America by a Mom and Pop operation. So is the KAQ.

Likes!
1. Comfort!!! wow is was nice!
2. the bars are great for pulling yourself around to get comfortable.
3. Very well made!
4. lots of straps on the ridgeline for gear (flash light, etc.)
5. Storage on the ends are WAY COOL!

Dislikes!
1. Hot...down south here I would be limited to use because it gets warm inside.
2. No bug screen....I do have a hanging screen but that would make it a PITA.....
3. With the bars it make the hammock a lot less stable...lots of rotational motion....Hennesy / Black bird there is zero rotational movement.
4. no view of the stars
5. The packed size is larger than my 2 man North Face Tadpole tent .
6. Heavy metal poles

I have a Hennesy ( bottom entry) and a Crazy Creek "Crib model" (with a hammock bliss bug netting).

I would love to try the Black Bird and the Jacks r better ($189 yikes! over priced)..

I also use a Warbonnet Blackbird and love it. I use the Big Mamajamba tarp with doors and I am very happy as long as there are trees. Looking for a underquilt...got cold at night in Vermont this yr. I also am considering a Kick Ass Quilt...I'm allergic to down. Has anyone ever use a Kick Ass Quilt? Would love to hear how you like them.

well after my first full night of sleeping in the hammock I have to admit that I'm sold on hammock camping. I doubt I'll ever go to ground again unless I absolutely have to.

I'm doing my synthetic underquilt (UQ) research right now and the KAQ New River (NR) UQ seems the one for the WBBB. Talk to Paul about adding more insulation to take it lower than 30 degrees. I have been considering a NR and a Lost River (LR) to adapt for weather conditions.

Us moto hanger types must be like a secret society! Maybe we need to have a secret hand shake or something.

Ordering a Byer hammock stand to conduct back yard "home experiments" in (no suitable trees in the yard). I set up the Warbonnet BB at a local park last week and I really need some time to experiment with distance and angle with an overnighter or ten to make sure all is well. I finally got it set and it was quite comfy but I could tell it can be better (hard to tell while being bombarded with loud Hip Hop music).

Hammoks are the schizzle! We've been using a couple of Henessys for nearly 10 years..like it enough that we've never looked at newer designs. They're great for riding, but we got ours initially for a 3 week kayaking trip. I haven't slept in a tent since

Same here Dragan, About 10 years ago I was big into to Sea Kayaking and canoeing. DOwn south here it is hard to find a smooth spot to camp - there are lots of cypress knees along the bayous / lakes and gear space was tight in the boat. I found a Hennesy at my local outdoor shop and was floored when i saw the tent hammock. What a perfect idea! I am getting 2 more Hennesy (one new zipper model XL). I will do a youtube HD video on a new Hennesy Jungle XL model bike camping! Stay tuned to this thread!

I just hung a hammock in my office, here at Ep!c Panniers. I had no Idea how comfortable a hammock can be! Think I'll get a hennessey and get rid of my tent. Sleeping on the ground sucks
