    Any survey that is not given under controlled conditions, like those of Consumer Reports, will not be reflective of the total population, but this one is at least reflective of the riding population that recognizes the need for safety gear. Most of us will tell the truth about gear use (I ride with just work pants and shoes in summer, instead of real MC gear, when commuting) and said so in the survey.
