Quick question: Will the BMW crash bars which are standard on an 1150GSAdv (USA) work on an 1100GS? I assume they would work just fine on an 1150GS, but that's not what I have. Thanks for the response/s. - P

I was able to call the dealer today (closed Monday, thus the original post). The guy I talked to said yes, you could use the ADV crash bars on an 1100GS. The bars are modular, not sold as kit, so you must order the parts [see breakdown]. ... and by the way, quite spendy $$$. :cry

    The break down:
    1. 2x Upper side left/right USD$216 each ... $432
    2. 2x Lower side left/right USD$139 each ... $278
    3. 1x Crossbar ... $ 36
    4. Miscellaneous nuts/bolts $40 - $50 ... $ 50
    -----------------------------------------------
    TOTAL ... $796

Typical dealer/mfgr "damn proud of their shit" prices...

No affiliation, but Chicago BMW knocks 20% off so that'd save ya $160 or so and no tax...

UPS charges retailers 6.5% fuel surcharge and the dimensional weight on that box is rather large.

You'll still save about $100-$120 which is still a heck of a lot better. If your in NJ and want Hepco Becker bars come by and pick them up(no shipping charge!)

    thanks,

Mostly true. My experience has shown that using normal UPS with most online guys will still be less than local tax rates. Here in SanJose tax is about 8.25%. In my experience shipping is always about the same or cheaper than tax, so the 20% remains true.

Excellent example, Jesse Luggage, ships a set of Odysseys for $40 to Calif. That's roughly 4% to ship 2 large boxes of about 20-30lbs per.
