I have a VERY close-by forest dispersed campspot picked out,
...so we can get back there early Friday morning


Oh yeah.....

WetFest is the weekend before, and several of us plan to leave from Wenatchee on Sunday.
We'll take portions of the WABDR down to Hood River,
then get to my place early Tuesday evening for a relaxing BBQ and a campfire.
...Then We'll leave Wednesday morning for the dirty two-day trip to Bend

Pm replied to, please join up! route details are pending, but the goal on day one is to get far enough into Southern Oregon to do as much of the OBCDR as we can up to Bend.

Hey Guys, I have not sorted out camping in the Bend area... I'm on the fence, as I could probably stay with friends, but still, it would be good to know my options.
Any decent campgrounds with showers, etc, near the rally site. I'll google, of course, but local recommendations help.

Imagine... riding the back loop of Windigo pass where it forks over to Timpanogas Lakes... Smooth hard pack. The crown jewel of the route#3... And having Jimmy Lewis along ( Jimmy freakin Lewis... Cult hero rider extraordinaire). I'd think I died and gone to advrider heaven.

Okay race fans, all approvals are in place. Registration has been submitted.
Now to decide what bike to bring.

R1200GS or 530EXC?

One is a cheater bike and a little boring on tarmac, and one may land me a demo ride on a V-twin. ;-)

There's some primitive camping west of Bend on FS road 370 off of Century Drive (hwy 372) 19.5 miles west of the rally site.
The road is a fun double track that ends at the Broken Top trail head. Camp sites aren't plentiful but there are some tucked away on side roads as well as along FS 370. Leave no trace
There are a couple of streams for water.
The scenery is higher elevation sub-alpine.
No open fires anywhere.
Take the Todd Lake turn off past Mt Bachelor

Century Drive is being repaved, expect delays and pilot car escort.

Usually a ride up FS 370 can be made into a loop back to town by taking FS380/4601 but that road is barricaded. Although a simple ride around presents itself I don't know if the gate at the other end has a ride around plus law enforcement is greater on weekends.

I have primitive camping at my place for 2-3 tents. Water available, no electricity. 5 miles from the rally site with 1 mile of dirt.

Anyone care to join my Wed (the 13th) pilgrimage from Vancouver (Canada) to meetup with Jimmy and fellow riders heading to Bend from the Northwest ? Leaving Van around noon, should make it to the campground for 8:00 pm or so.
Open to more interesting routes than slabbin it, but will (slab it ) if time dictates...

Jimmy said he'd like to head out (from the campground) around 8:00 am on Thurs, to arrive in Bend by early eve....
