    Jim -
    Thanks for having us!

I had a panic moment shortly before 7 Corners when I realized the bike sounded and ran terribly. Finally found a place to pull over and drop the side panels only to discover (as expected) that I'd neglected to connect the vacuum hose on the left FI unit. All well now. Thanks for checking fault codes and balancing my FI units.

I had a great time meeting everyone today, I'm ready for next year.
After not finding a room for less than $200 in Old Town, I decided to ride home, it was a nice 454 mile day.
    Just made a stiff drink:1drink
    Thanks again Jim!!

Lots of people helped each other in this tech day. Special thanks to Dina, Tina, Umberto and Kelly for the hard work in feeding the crew, and keeping things going smoothly!

We had about 40 bikes show up, and so much work done that I can't begin to tell it all! The following are but a few photos of the great things we accomplished:

Thanks everyone. I had a great time and got my service complete. 388 miles up and back. The hardest was the traffic leaving the Alexandria area.

Jim, all, That was a really great time. Thanks for all the CANBUS electrical help. I'd probably still be trying to install all those goodies if I didn't have all the expertise of the folks who showed up for tech day. Good food, great friends and perfect weather (except for my redneck sunburn and wicked farmer's tan).

Nice to see you again Mike, and thanks for the help you shared!

Bummer man, but I hope it was worth it. For the record, I had a couple drinks after everyone left myself! :freaky

Welcome to my world, but I hope it was worth it!

    No problem Jorge, next time.

Hi Eddy, glad you guys made it, and got a bit of work done. Hope to see you again soon!

The longest distance rider was Marty Hill from Atlanta, plus guys from PA, a very cool firemen from NYC, and many from over 100 miles away! I may have to expand the grounds for next year if this keeps up. After lunch a half a dozen more came, bringing the total to over 40! Not bad for a tech day!:clap

What a blast! Got to meet some great BMW motorcycle enthusiasts, enjoy a beautiful Virginia day, and learn so much about the maintenance for these bikes. Started work at 8am on the R1150GSA and continued on and off through 6pm or so with the help of JVB and friends! Small fluid leak on 295 South when all was said and done, a few miles aways from JVB's, turned around, and JVB helped square me away not 15 minutes later. Love this great community and all you 'gentleman' :rofl Seriously though, well worth the 460 mile round trip from NYC to meet all of you!

    Jim,
I guess it was the throttle body sync, but my bike runs significantly better now. It vibrates less and the most noticeable change is that the "grumbling" and frequent (loud) popping while decelerating is 100% GONE!
    :clap
Now I'm off to order my 24K service kit from Beemer Boneyard! I'll be sure to thank them for the many door prizes they donated.

Such a great time. Learned a lot listening to everyone talk. Wish my bike could have made it. Was able to jump it when I got home by switching to a different piece of metal for the ground. Another BMW rider helped me out by taking off the center panel covering the battery, turned out it was totally dry. After about an ounce of water, problem solved.

So nice meeting everyone -- such beautiful bikes, especially that 2014 1200RT...

    JVB,

I did not have a project of my own, but got to learn a lot from our NYC brother who was doing a complete maintenance. Thanks for having me. I will be sure to bring projects with me to the next one.

    Jim-

Great event, can't wait for the next one. Maybe 95 traffic will be better and I'll get there on time for the drawing and in line for some wrenching.

    ADV Riders-

Jim puts on a hell of tech day. Highly recommended!
