If this has been beaten to death, can someone kindly post the link?

I'd like to mount a huge ugly plastic rubbermaid storage bin (locking) on my rear rack. Tractor Supply? Wal-Mart? I have the little JCWhitney and am too damn cheap for a nice big Givi or similar. Something rather industrial and butt ugly would be preferred. :-)

    Suggestions? Pics?

    TIA all

I believe the Pelican case was $130.00 $1.00 worth of bolts and washers, and a $15.00 padlock. Works great, and very tough.

I have the Rubbermaid small? Action Packer on the back of my KLR650. Works fine and cost about $14 from Walmart. Mine is secured with a couple of loops of bungie cord tied on the inside that are routed through two holes on each side on the bottom of the container that I melted through.

Another :thumb for pelican. This is a 1450 case on my DRZ rack bolted down with rubber lined clamps.

Add a few stainless steel drawer pulls from Home Depot and you'll have an extra platform for stray stuff. The bungee net is suprisingly heavy duty for being a Wal-Mart special.

    Case: $80 after shipping
    Drawer pulls: $20
    Bolts and clamps: $5
    Net: $4

All told: $109.00 for a durable unit and a lasting sense of satisfaction.

    Pelican 1620

Actually big enough to hold a full faced Schuberth C2 helmet. Almost as big as a trunk in a small car. Required some modifications thuough, as it comes with a set of wheels and handles that I removed, then ground the mounting "lumps" on the bottom of the case flat.

    I've since painted the racks.

Rubbermaid Action Packer. About $15 at WalMart. I made a small plate to mount under the rack, and bolted it through.

I'd post a pic but all of my sub-albums in Photobucket have gone missing. :baldy You get what you pay for, I guess.

The caveat with the Action Packer is it may not be entirely weather proof, especially if you overstuff it (the material is fairly thin and flexes, so if it's stuffed the top may not be sealed well). I haven't had anything get wet, but I haven't put it through a major downpour either. Just something to pay attention to.

Ortlieb QRL (quick-release). Original purchased for use with a H-T rack on a KLR, but I found they connect securely to the DRZ's rack as well. Minor modification was done to prevent bag bounce. Details here.

130$ for a Pelican? Shoot me now!!! Get the action packer and 2 small, cheap, (especially for the KLR guys), hinges. Afix, is that a word, the hinges to the lid and side of the packer and you're ready to go. :freakySorry, I don't have a camera, other than the one I made in 4th grade science or I'd show ya.

$30 at Home Depot, bolted a swap meet backrest on for Mrs. Pony's comfort. Box holds all I don't really need. Mike
