I took a trip last summer from Reno to Denver/Boulder and back on my 97 F650. The bike is a great balance of comfort and off road capable. Where the F650 shines is gettig along on and off the road - for mixed use and long hauls it can't be beat. After spending 6+ hour days on it I can't imagine using anything less - KLR 650 for hours of riding? oy! I had Mr. Ed's moto in Albany Oregon fix me up a seat - he does excellent work and actually owns an F650 that he rides all over (OR to Mex and back) he knows his shit. Great guy too. http://www.mredsmoto.com/

Anyhow, I wouldn't get rid of the F for any other dual sport. It runs and runs and runs. Fits more than most other duals and is tough (ran off the road doing 50mpg and got up started the bike and drove another 250 miles tha day).

    Just my .02
