I guess it's time to get this started. It only started about a year ago when I found out this years trip was to Costa Rica. A quick call and our trip was extended an extra week. Next was research on bike rental places. After reading as many RRs on Costa Rica as I could find (by the way thanks to everyone who has written RRs on CR) I had an idea of where and what I wanted to see. David at Costa Rican Trails has done a great job with all the arrangements. Also thanks to my new friends in CR for their help, especially Oscar, hope to get to meet you. So the bags are now packed and waiting and we leave for my sisters on thanksgiving morn and she,s driving us to the airport friday am. Not going to bore you all with pix of gear and prep. I hope to keep everyone updated as we go but hey if we're havin to much fun I may not get around to it till the end of the trip. By the way "we're" is my wife and me. Gotta love a gal who doesn't have enough sense to not get on behind you. I,ll keep ya posted Don
Thanks. I read your ride report back when I started researching CR. Always nice to get other peoples experiences before you go. Couldn't imagine two up on a DR. We've got an 800 GS rented. My wife is used to her Rusell Day Long seat and Pirates Lair back rest so even the 800 will be roughing it for her. She's a great pillion tho, couldn't ask for more. I'm hoping to post as we go but if not at the end of our trip we're spending 5 days at a resort and she wants to just relax. I'll go nuts just sitting around so doing a RR will give me something to do.
I am going to Costa Rica for 3 weeks in Feb 2013 - but not on a bike! So I am looking forward to your RR and pictures before I go. Maybe they will entice me to return. -ceej
Gracias. Any other slang or general info appriciated. Can't find a slang section in my Costa Rican dictinary.
in Manual Antonio now. Sorry no pix to show yet. Brought a new computer and I can't download jave to put pix on Smugmug. Wasn't to bad getting out of San Jose this morning. Missed a turn but other than that not bad. took the pan American down to San Isodoro and over to Dominical and up tp Manual Antonio. Got in some clouds going up the mountain on PA but was still ok. Stopped at a soda for lunch and the clouds caught up but these were full of moisture. Not rain just a heavy mist. Couldn't see shit. Had my visor up and glasses down. Wasn't real fun. Had a wild goose chase finding hotel but we made it before dark. Heading for Punteranus and the ferry in the morning. Then over to St Teresa for a couple days. I'll keep working on uploading pix. It says it's something in internet settings. Don't know if it's my computer or their wifi. Anyway Pura Vida
Found problem. Computer want to download spanish version. Put the english version on this morning. Pix coming soon.
