How many of us Gallatin Valley inmates are racing this season? I signed up for this season and will be racing at Belfrey, Winifred, and Crazy Ben in Clancy. I might also try the Ought 6 race in the end of April as we race along with the western regional ISDE qualifiers. If you haven't checked it out go to their web site or Google Montana XC. Im looking forward to camping and choking on dust! Its a good group of people who just want to rip it up desert style on closed course format. Events are relaxed and fun!

Now that ride to Ringling looks interesting. I drove up there several years back but haven't been up there since, is there a typical way to make the ride up...that includes the challenges shown?

Regarding Ringling: In a few weeks the snow will be off. Once it's dry, its an easy unmaintained dirt road at the worst part. About 60 miles one way from Belgrade.

I was thinking of doing it while there was still snow, just because I'm a bit of a glutton for punishment I guess. If I remember correctly, it's pretty much head North on Springhill Road...and just keep going.

I live on Springhill, so it's the logical start point.

Rode it yesterday from Belgrade and it was dry and nice, green and spectacular scenery, not one other person seen all the way there. One huge boulder on the road in the canyon section, but other than that the GS1200 was right at home. Got caught in a cattle drive just south of Ringling though, then flatted the rear just as I turned onto 89 enroute back to Bozeman. :clap

Well not from Bozone, but spent alot of time backcountry skiing in MT and ID(mostly ID)

I have a DR 650, and Husq TXC 310 (not plateable) that I want to bring out to MT for some off road long haul riding/camping. I've been looking at the BitterRoot trails to try and piece something together for my Husq.

Any suggestions, or routes I should look at?

    I'd be coming from Wisconsin.

Road doesn't even open till July 1, even then if we don't get hot dry weather in June, not likelly, the north aspects like Standard Creek will be muddy in shaded areas. Still lots of snow NOW

    July 27th is my guess!

I have spent time in the Gravs every year for over 30yrs. I have never seen the drifts as deep and big as they were this winter. :eek1 I saw spots where cornices fell and caused avalanches in places I have never seen slides. the snow depth was not that much more than normal, however the drifting is incredible.

Went for a quick ride up Trail Creek to Dry Creek last weekend. Thought I'd share. No snow and roads were good. Out and back is 60 miles give or take.

Welcome Huck, and to all the other bozone riders...

I know short notice but would certainly host an uprising this evening. Game 2 of great Stanleys cup will be on, can tell lies about great riding adventures etc. Not promising much but a place to gather and perhaps a slightly colder than RT budlight.

Shop is at 23 high K Street in Belgrade. Down Amsterdamn, turn right on Royal and first left, shop on corner. White camper in front.

Game Starts at 5pm if your interested. will be here all day working on projects so swing by if your out for a ride....

    Cheers
