I'm think the MRA screen might be the ticket for me. I get a little buffeting and it would be nice to clean that up. Now that you've had it for a while, would it have been worth while to have bought the bolt on version instead of the clamp on?
I took my 800XC with ABS/Arrow to the dealer for the updated tune today. As many have reported, the most remarkable improvement is the MUCH smoother on/off throttle response. So far so good with my dealer NCY in San Marcos where I purchased said animal. Christmas Eve and they were slow in their service department. My benefit? A washed motorcycle! Very nice touch even though I had imported some priceless red dirt back from Utah! I noticed on the receipt that there was a charge of $13 and change. The service writer indicated that was what Triumph rebates the dealer for the recall work. Retail for you and I would be around $45 for the new tune. They did not make any money off me today with a tune and a bike wash for less than fourteen bucks! I imagine they'll get me next time. Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays to all you inmates. It's been fun hangin', learnin', and getting entertained here. Homemade Bob
I'd be thinking you got billed $14 for a bike wash. The install of the new tune was a recall for all tiger owners done FOC as far as I'm aware (prhaps it's different in the US). If they are guna charge $45 for a install of a tune generally then they are being rip off IMHO. Takes ~5 mins and a couple of mouse clicks/keystrokes. Cheaper to DL tuneecu and buy the cable (which cost me about $10) and do it yourself
AFAIK it is free of charge as my dealer didn't charge to do the recall. I watched and dhula is right on, 5 mins and its done. Jerry
Sorry I wasn't clear. I wasn't charged for the recall or the bike wash. I'm just sayin' that I was well taken care of by my dealer and the dealer was reimbursed $14 by Triumph. Merry Christmas!
Gave up on them. Fairly obvious though the drop in consumption is because of the increased fueling at low partial settings
Rasthomas, do you have a specific link to these racks on Cli-Max? I'm having a hard time tracking 'em down. Cheers... K
No Joy. I'm stuck on this page with nowhere to go. :huh http://www.cli-maxridinggear.com/servlet/the-Luggage-cln-Givi-Mounts/Categories

That's the part. Better give them a call on the delivery time. They are approximately half the price of any other distributor, but I waited 23 days for delivery. [/FONT]
Hello, I will be taking delivery of a shiny new 800XC in two days. Very excited about it. Our deal included panniers. I'm having second thoughts about it now. I originally intended to get soft luggage as it better suits my intended use. I will have to get a top box right away as madam needs it as a backrest - she feels nervous without it. I could probably swap the panniers for a top box if I call them tomorrow before they set up the locks. It would be in their favor - the pannier are more expensive than the top box. The dealer made the point that fitting of soft luggage is restricted by the high exhaust. He's right but I see there are a few mounting brackets that stick out far enough to clear the exhaust. I doubtful the hard luggage will last beyond the first trip. So I'm asking for opinions about using the genuine Triumph top box with the optional backrest. Would it be useful for a pillion of small stature? No use having a plush backrest if she can't reach it. I'm looking at the Triumph Australia web site and they have an interactive "build my bike" thing. The top box seems to be quite far back. Is there any adjustment in the position of the top box? This is a long shot: would any folks on the forum have a photo of a pillion and top box on the 800? thanks for advice!
Spacekadet, my advice would be not to have a pillion passenger leaning against a backrest on such a tall bike. It will affect the handling. Better to have her in close & hanging on tight. By all means have a softbag topbox, gives madam peace of mind & something to lean back on along the straights, but I think the back rest is a waste of money better spent on some soft bags.
I disagree with not having them sitting back enjoying the ride and relaxing. If just cruising along I see no problem with it. As for effecting handling, it might to a very slight degree when compared to hugging the rider but IMO and experience not that much of a difference. In fast twisty type stuff maybe a bit more of a difference but still nothing insurmountable
