This would be my 3rd time on the parkway. The first time I didn't take enough vacation to do the whole thing. The second time we had to leave the parkway due to a combination of bike problems and bad weather. We ended up skipping some sections we had done the first year and getting back on the parkway and riding the southern sections we had missed the first year.
This time my plan was to ride the entire parkway north to south and then head over and ride the Cherolhola Parkway to Tellico Planes TN. I would then retrace the ride back home south to north.
Why the BRP? There's just something special to me about riding through the mountains for 469 (one way) miles with no red lights, stop signs or commercial vehicles.I didn't see one radar trap the entire 938 miles I was on the parkway.
EDIT: I have expanded the RR to include subsequent trips on the BRP. I think I am up to 16 now.

Not far from home and I already see something interesting, so I stop to take a pic.

Hating Interstate riding, I take secondary roads from central Pa to Waynesboro, Virginia. So after a stop at Burger King and a traffic delay in Berkely Spring WV I arrive here about 6 hours after departure.

Actually it wasn't too bad. If someone was going sub 45 I just passed them when it was safe. Going south I was taking my time stopping for pics etc.. the trip home was more about riding and went much more quickly.:evil

I got to Otter Creek at mile post 60 around 5pm and set up camp. They have a restaurant there that I was told closed at 6 so I went over and had a pulled pork bbq sandwich. I have to say I wouldn't recommend it.

Got to the vistors center at Virginia's Explore Park and saw several police cars and the parking lot full of cars campers and giant tent. The lady told me it was for a movie being shot in the woods around there "ANYA" or something like that.

I stopped at the Puckett cabin and was taking a couple pics from the bike.
I was the only one there and the weridest thing happened...I heard a baby cry. I was going to get off the bike and investigate, but a car load of people stopped and hopped out so I just moved on. I googled it to see if the park service may have a recording set up or to see if there were any other reports, but I found nothing. Weird.

This was the end of day 2. I camped at Julian Price Memorial park. I had left the parkway around mile post 276 to look for a cyle camp I had written on my map seeking a hot shower as none of the federal campgrounds on the prky have showers. I had trouble finding the place due do the directions on their site missing a vital connecting road. After stopping a local and asking for directions I finally reached the place and saw a field filled with portable toilets. Discusted I drove on and ended up about 20 miles off the parkway to get gas then bee lined back onto the parkway to get to a camp site before dark. I didn't quite make it and set the tent up in the dark. I was so tired that I didn't even eat supper. I just put up the tent ate an apple and went to bed. I awoke around 1 am to the howling of numerous coyotes. I had never heard anything like that. Cool and unnerving all at the same time ,,lol
