Ducati MultiStrada 1200

Just spoke to my local dealer and it looks like it is happening. Uses the current 1100 motor. We will see it at Milan in November. Got to admit, after seeing the Monster 696 recently, and leaving the showroom well impressed with Ducati quality, this along with the new Yam S10 are on my short list.
If anyone has gossip or photo's, feel free to add to the conjecture.

This is actually a fairly old rumor, but my dealer is making it sound rather likely as well. He told me that they have to sign non-disclosure agreements so he couldn't confi anything, but then immediately said that the Italian ducati guys could not stop talking about that Terra Monstro.

So the rumor continues that the Aperta will have a 21" front wheel and be aimed directly at the GS. Which is foolish in my humble opinion. It would be best to resurect the Elephant IMHO. But what do I know?

Didn't Cagiva run a Heffalump in the Dakar once?
Whichever way it goes, it's interesting to see any manufacturer take a risk.
I think the Multistrada was a bike ahead of it's time.
Lets hope Ducati nail the Adv thing and have big success this time round.

Looks like the Multistrada is still in the range for '09, so the Strada will be an all new model.

Took a year to get the Hypermotard out there after the Milan show. I suspect that the Strada Aperta will be an early 2010 model.

Very interesting however it looks as though it is just a Hypermotard with a half fairing. Looks like a very small investment redesign but not really an upgrade on anything. Not being negative as I do think it will sell and is another great variation built on the Multistrada platform.

What really interests me beyond all else and should interest Multistrada, hypermotard, ulysses, and versyss owners alike are the tires. I want a set NOW!!

Interesting. The "next" MS has been talked about for awhile, a prettier faced MS and/or larger tank HM would be nice to see. Hope the economy allows for the new models to come to the US.

How big is the gas tank? Can you get aggressive tread in those wheel sizes?

I love the Hypermotard but I was very ambivalent about the Multistrada, it felt too cramped. This might be cool though.

Needs a hard luggage option to make it an adv-tourer.

How aggressive of a tread is needed, Guero? Maybe if there was an adjustable front fender, so that you could move it up 3" for clearance purposes, it would make more sense.

Interesting...I find the Hyper to be more comfortable than the Multi as well. I feel too close to the bars on the Multi. If the Hyper could hold another 1.5 gallons of fuel it would be just about perfect.

I love this bike, if it's the "new" Multi. The problem as I see it is that Ducati will end up cannibalizing their own Hypermotard buyers with this bike. If this bike is coming, expect to see a lot of cheap used Hypers and Multi's around.
