Yeah yeah yeah... it'll be for sale.. get over yerfugginself.. I'll post it in FM soon enough. THe question is, how to figure out (without spending an assload of time) how much I should ask for a bike.. 91 K100rs, about 85k on the clock.. Never ridden gently over 160, only wheelied on Sundays by my granny... looks great, hasn't been down more than 1 or 2 dozen times, yadda yadda.... I'm not going to post all the particulars here, as I'm not looking for a $$ figure, but more a question of where I should look to find a figure..... how do you clowns go about figuring out what to ask for your 20yr old bitch? My problem is I love the bike. a bit too well..... As of the next court date, I'm going to have invested more in speeding tickets than my purchase and upkeep for the past 6yrs..... The wife doesn't like the idea of having to bail me out of jail for hoonage....
he didn't get me for attempted speeding.. he got me for the 'rapid deceleration' (which as I'm told is 'reckless driving'). (that was me doing a stoppie to bring it down to a relatively sane speeding ticket)... oh and he still got me for 88/60... BUt anyway... how do you guys figure value on an older bike?? Is KBB relatively sane? a better method??
Try and find similar on ebay... and see if you can watch for the final price. May be a bit difficult for a relatively "rare" bike.
LOL!!! I second the E-bay thing and any other site that has for sale ads. click here for a BMW exclusive ad site.
Hey, getting rid of a brick only hurts for....wait, it doesn't hurt at all Try the K11OG for sale section http://k11og.org/forum/viewforum.php?f=9&sid=963009feb8f96098b6fc36e32ddd11cd Even if you aren't a member, you can look at the BMW MOA website and see prices. http://www.bmwmoa.org/flea/index.php?bikeseries=Kbike&catid=1 Just for reference, this spring I sold my '93 K1100RS w/50,000 miles (VERY good condition) for $3900. Good luck, John
I would try the www.ibmwr.org site, it is down tonight, use that as a guideline, KBB was way high on the 1996 & 1997 K1100LT that I am familiar with. the listed 6K market value was 4.5K YMMV
yeah.. i looked it up on KBB, and they came back at $4750.. seemed a bit high to me. my damn luck, the high/low switch started acting up last night.. .. First time I've EVER turned a single screw for repair on this bike.. heretofore it was purely maintenance... trying to decide if i should convert to relays or just replace the assembly.. i'm damn good with a soldergun, but laziness is also a factor...
If you use the advanced search function on Ebay, there is an option that lets you view completed auctions. There you can see what the final bid was and whether or not the bike actually sold (as long as there were some actually up for sale in the last few months). Edit: Okay, I just checked. It shows four K100RSs. Two of them sold. One with 78k miles went for $1325 and the other with 38k miles went for $3000. A 1987 model with only 8500 miles with asking price of $2800 obo, did not sell. The other one was obviously overpriced with a starting bid of $3550 and received no bids.
The value of that bike would depend a lot on how much recent service it's had, ie clutch condition, input shaft spline lube, drive shaft splines. Good service history counts on that critter.
