I spent 6 months in Chattanooga, damn nice place. I thought about moving there or the Johnson City area briefly, but at the end of the day I really wanted to move back here.
I couldn't agree with this post more. My wife and I were winter Texans at the beginning of this year in our RV. Big Bend was awesome- I could go back there every winter and be just fine with it. Cool scenery, lots of outdoor stuff to do, good MTBing, decent riding, good weather, and a laid back lifestyle are all contributing factors to making it a cool place. I was really excited to move on to Hill Country because of all the good stuff we'd read about it, but in reality I don't think I'll ever return. Mostly what we found when riding was locked gates, dead ends, too much pavement, no good way to connect dirt roads to each other, etc. Add to that, they want you to pay for EVERYTHING. The best place we found to MTB was a private ranch that cost $7/person/day, and it wasn't worth that much. After being there for a month (against our will- we were stuck with axle problems on our fifth wheel) I couldn't get out of there fast enough. Ultimately we ended up in Arkansas and decided we loved it enough from all the years of coming here that we decided to just stay. So far, so good!
as a guy that pretty much loves beer, I can tell you that NO, there is nothing about a kilt that is appealing to a normal heterosexual male, regardless of the alcohol intake.
I have- it was one of the few experiences we've had so far that has made us question our decision. Actually, we might be able to take him up on his offer to go kayaking after all this rain, although his requirement to wear a speedo might not work out too well in the chilly temps.
I went from being double booked for dirtbike riding to having nothing to do now that it's going to rain all weekend. I had a choice of a weekend riding around Mill Creek area or going to Chadwick, now it looks like all I'll have to do this weekend is rebuild my Sprint forks and watch the Royals play.
We haven't given up yet....but I bet we will be staying home too. Good seeing you guys at the meeting the other night! The club is a lot of fun at our campouts etc, not so much at the meetings lol.
honestly, if I werent so tired from work this week, it might be fun ONE night unless we could somehow dry out. tarps would be key! and no mud, jeeze, im already too tired to be lifting anything.
