B, B, B and Beyond

My son lives in Idaho, so every year I load up the bikes and make the drive to Boise and beyond.....
I tried to get some Cali boys to go up there, but you know what they say :eek1

It rained good the week before I got there, temps were cooling and the fires were laying down, perfect timing.

16 hours up the lonely hwy, get some sleep and stock up for the next stop

the "hard and technical part", oh great.....:huh

Some of the Boise boys met us up there, we took an easy "blue trail" to start with;

what you can't see is the rain rut chock full o' rocks and bikes and bodies steaming.....

An easy lil switchback;

MotoMergan used to be a Cali boy but he has adapted well to the northern climbs;


You definitely have to earn the views around here;


Going to wash the bikes now, more tales of work, beauty and adventure later

and these trails were definitely work, a lot of them started with a B
for breakfast.............

once up top however;


no dust

we would do that far stuff another day;

down the trail some;


and now the other way;


and straight ahead;

so after some smoking and laughing



we all gather up


and look for signs

that say go right


and left


and then straight


to the root trail

I so have to go there

more!

25 miles in 5 hours?! :huh That was quite the trail with the first 5 miles being the hardest....

At this point we had a couple tired riders and a yellowjacket victim who were thinking of home


or at least a place to rest


A few of us still had some gas so we thought we'd ride up this


we cleared 3 or 4 trees off the trail until we gave up, ironwood deadfall isn't easy to cut or break....




Oh well, might as well go do some easy trails

the rest of the easy stuff to finish up the first day;

nice bridge, trail user fees at work! Carry a saw if you go that way....


Meadow to Loon Lake, we thought about hiking to the plane crash, for 1/2 a second.....

Day 2 started with ice on the seats and hot coffee

The creek was steaming (outlet from hot springs)


Back through the easy stuff

and upstream this time

somewhere we missed the trail junction and did not stay on the river, we heard it has some scary spots....next time
We ended up on Whangdoodle trail, what a name, what a trail!

Realize I don't take too many pics of the good (hard) stuff, usually it's at a breather spot waiting for the boys to clean something or catch up....but it seems like I got a lot of pics this trip

Some had to go back to town and work, we went to the resort for a hot bath...

Day 3 and we're down to 2 riders, time to go find some elusive trails....
