Just got off the phone with Heindl and they sold out their entire shipment in one day. They said that they have 50 more coming in late June, so I got on the list!
Yeah? Well I have one currently with 8500 miles on it and it still has a little life left in it. 8500 miles with TKC 80's would be between 3 and 4 tires, so do the math $185 versus $500 .......... I think I'll go with the $185. But that's just me .......
True enough, I am not saying it isnt a good value. I know Id rip the sidewall the first time I rode it ( thats the sort of luck I have) are they routinely lasting 8000+ miles on a GS that sees highway use too?
Me too! And it ain't a TKC. You may get better life from the Scout but I'm guessing it ain't going to work as well as a TKC off-road and it will need to be a pretty good tire on-road to ace the TKC. Can you tell I like TKCs? Just guessing, haven't tried the scout yet. Will wait for SOG's flogging
AS will I....I seem to be part of the SOG chase/support team...reminds me I need to pack a fire extinguisher nowWonder where I can mount that
I can only speak to my experience, which is that I have had one of the original K60's on my GS since August of last year. Out of the 8500 miles that's on it there are probably 500 miles of dirt and off road, 3500 miles of gravel roads, and 4500 of pavement. The grip is as good or better in some instances than the TKC's. The wear is excellant! The down side is that they are NOISY. But you get used to that. I'm a believer ....... I also have them on my X-Challenge and the wifes F650. They are really good in the mud, considering that they aren't a knobby.
The one thing I've found (or not found) is where to get these tires. BDCW only has the K60. A-Moto's website is shite and can't seem to find a place to purchase... Google search brings back a ton of discussion on The Heide's but pretty much no options of where to get with the K60 or K76. I'm looking for the K76 too....
Only one place in Minnesota seems to carry these eventually. I talked with the scooter shop and he says he should be able get me a set in June.
Here's where I got mine, saw their ad in the BMWMOA magazine a month or two ago for Heidenaus and got on their waiting list: Motorrad Unlimited, LLC 515 McDowell St. Unit 4 Asheville, NC 28803 828.505.0927 www.motorradavl.com
You won´t believe what I was told today by 2 different suppliers: Not available in Germany until August. So consider yourself lucky! I just replaced a really worn out TKC with a new TKC, so it´ll be the Scout the next time round.
got mine wednesday http://www.heindlengineering.com/..havent had a chance to ride them yet..may have to ride them up to waco and let the SOG break them in for me
Damn they must not corner to well since you have over 9900 miles on the tires and the "TITS" are still on the outside knob of the tire. Are your roads all flat like the picture here? Are there any mountain/curvy roads over there to lay it over?
Learning allot about this tire... when its available im going to try it. I understand this is the older version but if true, pretty darn impressive...
Any mileage reports on the new K60 yet? I have a 6000-7000 mile trip to AK and the Dempster in 2 weeks, and am wondering if it will make it? Was going to try a TKC 80 up front and K60 on the rear, and wondering if I should pack tires and change in Dawson or just go for it?
We rode to prudhoe bay from pendleton. Started with a new tkc 80 on the front and it did the 6500 miles just fine. We put new rear tkc's on above fairbanks. They were toast after the 4500 mile remainder of the trip. I would think the Heidi would be perfect front and rear for the whole trip. YMMV. . .
Thanks I am thinking that is what I am gonna do. The old Heidi would be no problem, and I have not run a TKC 80 up front yet, but that is what I have in the garage.
