More power and larger fuel tanks.

Hmmm more weight, tubless tyres, one now with 19inch standard.

On paper, they seem to have buggered a good thing.

You going to get an opportunity to ride one Phil?

Lets just wait and see. Looking forward to riding one some day. I look at the Triumph and think "that just won't work real well" but then I rode one and in my opinion it performed much better than I would have thought. Will i think the same with this?

Will the new Ktm be like a modern 4wd? Compare a new Landcruiser on paper compared to what we once thought what we needed in a 4wds.

So I think i will reserve my judgement until I get to ride one...........and then I can say it is crap, a step backward and a dissappointment to my 07 model.......until I have enough money to buy a new one and it will be the best bike in the world.

But most importantly, will it have a beak? If so, will it 's beak fall off?

Who cares what it looks like? You finally get a normal tank with just one filler cap, extra fuel range, decent abs that lets you slide the back, and that motor! I see potential..although where do you find a knobbie capable of putting 150 hp to a steep rocky trail:huh

Ps if you look through the article over in orange crush, most of the rd team are the road team. Hidden away in the corner is the adv guy...he looks just about weird enough that I'd buy a bike he designed.

Phil, there is a copy of a ride report here http://advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=784473&page=105

Skip the first few pages which are basically the smt rebadged as an adv....they eventually get to the r model.

You know, taking a second look ...there is a bit of honda cross dresser going on there. The developers claimed to be inspired by the mighty africa twin but they do wear funny looking glasses....

    Well said!

I reckon it looks great! KTM haven't been selling enough of the 990 lately possibly due to it being to hard edged for the majority of buyers out there. So the new model appears a little softer on paper, so what! KTM will still bring out an awesome bit of kit I'm sure!

AND it doesn't look anything like a f#%king Strom!! :D

OK, so they've softened up the 990 to get more "latte sippers" riding orange, fair enough.

I just hope the rumours of an 800 goes the other way, takes all the best of the big 990's and makes them even better for the bush.

I'd forgotten about the 800 rumours. What's the latest gos there?

Just by looking at the pics, I'd say ground clearance has taken a big hit on the new ones.

    950/990 please.

I think KTM have tried to capture a few markets with this bike and have well in doing that.

Be interesting what they sell for here.
