Having escaped Chicago...air out west is much sweeter.... The trials bike may need to be jetted for altitude....but still pulled me up on this sunset Skyline Trail test ride... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
That's why we have high country - you can look down on the inversion. EJ, is it an all trials tour? Waiting to see where you go.
LOL...in the winter I will snowboard...inversion sucks, but not as badly as Chicago winters.... I'll ride my S-10 in early September. Not sure where. In the mean time the Beta will help cure the single-track fever. Here are some more pics from the test ride: Perspective deceives in photographs, yada yada yada: the steepest hill I've ever climbed and it looks so flat! Next week, shown on the pic below, I'll ride with the Beta from the bucket list of trails that have defeated me with the KTM 500: Ben Lomond switchbacks. No dabs! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
More singletrack eye candy: With the Beta the switchbacks up to Ben Lomond were like cheating: Victory! Okay, I did walk the bike up the last 25 feet to the peak... Ogden below:
Driving to the TH TH: This is the South Willow Canyon/Boy Scout TH for Stanbury. I went south toward the higher passes which were snowed-in last time we tried them two years ago. I skipped this climb last time too. I am glad I did. It was pretty steep at the end... Views were great!
Jakbrand's shortcut to the right of this picture is still visible. Apparently wildlife is using it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
It sprinkled on an off the whole way south. Gray skies, no true HDR & cheap lens of the iPhone camera made for uninteresting pictures. Where is the turnaround? Big Hollow, the southernmost TH for Stanbury. I only saw a group of 4 motos in the distance today, despite it being Labor Day weekend. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I wasn't going to take pics on the way back, but skies began to open up: Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Last pic w aspens: These are on a bandit trail above Box Elder or White Pine Pass. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
This one is back up above Martin's Fork Pass: But this second attempt up on the way back was not as successful as the first....I ran out of fuel as I approached the steepest section almost at the top and didn't react quick enough to flip the reserve...the bike hesitated, then made an unintended wheelie as I applied throttle as u was stalling, turned 180 degrees to the right, I fell down, whisky throttling enough for the bike to keep going downhill on its own as I looked at it and said oh nooooo....it eventually stopped after crashing about 20 feet below me. LOL. Just a busted front fender.....and a bruised knee and ego... The reward: Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Looks like you had a great day and an awesome ride! I'd like to do the Stansbury Front, but I don't think a KLR650 is the bike to try it on.
