    Thank you, good sir!

My tanks seem to be working again this morning, after yesterday's debacle. :clap

So I looked at my desktop to see what it's running.

    Radeon X1600, 2g OCZ ram, Pentium D 3ghz.

despite technically being what the game calls for, it doesn't cut it.
Used to play CS and DOD just fine. can't even run those anymore :cry

lobster was talking last night about there being 'blades of grass' in the game :huh
guess i got a little fps envy :deal

Picked up an M4 this morning and won 17 out of 25 for a 68% win rate. Great fun...

Both have their fans, but the problem I have with the E8 is that while it has a medium gun, it doesn't really have the speed to get out beside or behind people, where-as at least the Jumbo has armor on the front of it.

Yesterday I was a little under the weather, so I played a bit. Did ok during the day.....got my ass handed to me on a platter later that night....good thing I don't care about my W-L rate.

Have you played with the new german light tanks....boy they are fun....not sure if I will keep them all or just buy a new space....I have a hard time selling gold tanks....some I have not played in a LONG time....wish you could gift them to people.

    XVM - First Time Install.

For reference, here is the official XVM website in English:
    http://www.modxvm.com/en/

I have seen some of you guys in TS struggling with your XVM install so I thought I'd take a minute to give the steps.
If you have never installed XVM before - you MUST do all of these steps.
You can NOT just copy Brian's folder. You can NOT just click on Dave's link to "XVM Updater".
(unless you are really lucky and happen to have all of the components pre-installed; but it is unlikely for most users).

**CLOSE WORLD OF TANKS** before you start

    1) .NET Framework:
You must have the microsoft .NET framework on your machine - chances are that you do have it, so we'll skip how to get it. If you do all these steps and it doesn't work you are missing .NET.... let me know and I'll help you get it.
Here is a little application that will allow you to check your .NET version if you want to:
    http://www.tmgdevelopment.co.uk/versioncheck.zip

    You need version 3.5

    2) Dokan Library:
You must have the Dokan Library Installed. You most likely do NOT have this library installed. to Install it:
    http://dokan-dev.net/en/download/#dokan
    You want the file:
    Dokan library
    dokan-0.6.0 2011/01/10
Here is the direct link to download the file you need:
    http://dokan-dev.net/wp-content/uploads/DokanInstall_0.6.0.exe
Just run that exe and follow the steps to install it (all default is good). AFTER you have the Dokan Library installed - you then want to download XVM Stat.

    3) XVM Stat
Here is a directly link to the XVM Stat file:
    http://www.curse.com/wot-mods/worldoftanks/wot-xvm-full/download

This will save a file (zip) on your hard drive.
Put that file in your World of Tanks GAME FOLDER (usually: C:\Games\World_of_Tanks and NOT your mods folder) and then extract it in THAT folder. This will put two files in your game folder: xvm-stat.exe and xvm-stat.exe.config.
THESE are the files required to run XVM. NOT the xvmconf file.
You can delete the three .txt files that came with the zip if you like.

    4) How to Start XVM and WoT
To play with XVM running you now run world of tanks via the xvm-stat.exe file - NOT the world of tanks icon you have used in the past. What I do is right click on this Icon, click "create shortcut" and then I can move/use this shortcut to where ever I like to launch world of tanks (i.e to my Task Bar in Windows 7).

    5) XVM Config
Now that XVM is installed - we can talk about the Config file. Everything that XVM does is configured by a Text file called: XVM.xvmconf
It is located in your "World of Tanks\res_mods\[game version]\gui\flash\" folder.
The graphic user interface that has been linked to before - is actually a GUI that is simply editing this TXT file for you so you don't have to do it.

Right now you do not have a XVM.xvmconf

You can make one using this GUI:
    http://www.modxvm.com/en/xvm-xvm-xvmconf-configuration-editor/

Where at the end you would click SAVE and then put that file in your:
    C:\Games\World_of_Tanks\res_mods\0.8.4\gui\flash

If you want to see what the contents of that file look like here is an example:
    https://code.google.com/p/wot-xvm/s...ull+config+EN/XVM.xvmconf?spec=svn1189&r=1189

Another thing you can do is download OTHER user's configurations - they are usually named after the user - like TopGeek's XVM config - basically people who have taken the time to customize that TXT file to a cool way they like and they've shared with the world - there are LOTS of them out there:

    http://www.koreanrandom.com/forum/forum/50-конфигурации-xvm-custom-configurations/

...but chances are at this point you just want to play and don't understand what all of those features are - so you just need a sample XVM.xvmconf file to get you started... I'd give you mine but it has been modified extensively for 2560x1600 resolution (PM me if you run that resolution and want to try it).

    So lets make a quick/simple XVM.xvmconf file:

    Go to the GUI editor:
    http://www.modxvm.com/en/xvm-xvm-xvmconf-configuration-editor/
and click SAVE (in the flash window) - it will open your My Documents most likely and default to the file name XVM.XVMconf. Change to your C:\Games\World_of_Tanks\res_mods\0.8.4\gui\flash folder and save that XVM.XVMconf file there - IN THE FLASH FOLDER.

That's it. You now have XVM installed.
LAUNCH XVM with the SHORTCUT we made earlier - NOT with your WORLD OF TANKS ICON!

Now that it is installed you can start tweaking the GUI with the editor - saving the XVM.xvmconf file each time and updating it on your PC to see the results.

**you must restart World of Tanks between every XVM change**

    Some popular XVM configs:

    Engiands: http://www.curse.com/wot-mods/worldoftanks/engiands-xvm-config

Grandpas KISS (which ironically it is not simple): http://www.curse.com/wot-mods/worldoftanks/grandpas-kiss-interface-xvm

    Roughnecks: http://www.curse.com/wot-mods/worldoftanks/roughnecks-tank-xvm-test-7-5beta

I hope this helps - good luck!

Naturally a page break. Funny how the good stuff is always at the bottom of the last page.

And before someone puts up another post ... let's keep these links together!

The T-34 killed himself? Funny stuff right there!

TDs need to move immediately after firing in the open. You were a sitting duck for the arty up on that hill.

Hello, I play on the US servers and mostly play the German TD's. I am mainly looking for others to platoon with on a regular basis.

It was suggested I ask about joining to make it easier to find platoons.

    Thanks,
    Gizmata
