I love all kinds of music, from hard core punk and metal to blues and everything in between. There are a few specific types I don't enjoy so much, but I would probably still see them live because what I really love is live music. I have huge appreciation for the talent it takes to write songs and especially to perform them.

With that intro, I want to start a thread on area concerts because I know a lot of YFFs like to see a band now and then. I was scanning through the local free weekly hipster rag at lunch today and there are a bunch of shows coming up that I would love to see.

Tuesday, September 15 at Roseland Theater
    Flogging Molly

Saturday, October 3 at Roseland theater
Motorhead with Reverend Horton Heat and Nashville Pussy

Sunday, October 11 at Roseland Theater
The Pogues. Tickets on sale now, get 'em fast because they'll sell out.

Thats what I have for now. If anyone wants to post up anything do it. I'd like to get to know local music more too....unless it's that crappy, depressive, breathy indie shit that's so popular around here. :puke1

RHH should be an awesome show.

These are both Portland Bands, and are nothing alike:

Horsefeathers - Like a chance to see Nick Drake in concert during some songs, Bob Dylan during others, and experimental folk\grass\rock during others. I saw them\him play a short set at the Portland Central Library and found myself leaning-in harder than any other show I've seen. Acoustic guitar, cello, violin, and saw are the typical instruments.

    August 2009
1 - Happy Valley, OR @ Pickathon Festival
2 - Happy Valley, OR @ Pickathon Festival

    ------------------

The Thermals - Stellar punk\pop-rock fusion; soaring, meloidc, intelligible and intelligent punk ballads that cover environmentalism, religion, politics. They turned down a $50,000 offer to use one of their songs in a Hummer commercial.

July 24 - Portland, OR @ Jackpot Records - 6pm, free, all ages

I like to go out to see my buddy's local rock and roll band, they play everything from the 70 to present. If you don’t like Led Zeppelin or the Scorpions (he nails both quite well), you wouldn’t care for them.

Well it's not PDX but it's my thread to hijack so F-it.

Is anyone going to the Capital Hill Block Party in Seattle?

Preferrably someone who lives nearby and has floor space for a couple of inmates. :augie
