(74-54) Soriano gives up a long ball in the ninth with two on and two out to tie it up and a throwing error by Lowe moves a runner to third who scores on a soft grounder in the eleventh. Bummer!

ugh. freaking nix didn't even check the runner at third- he would have easily been caught in a rundown...

(75-54) Working on a streak of one. Hughes kept it close.

Currently losing 6-4 in the bottom of the eighth inning.

    Now down by one.

    (75-55) Another loss.

or, 'how jayson nix' screwed up again.

jeebus, how is that guy on a major league roster? he can't hit, can't field, and makes boneheaded decisions.

Ugh. So now Girardi puts Nix at DH. and of course since he's such a crappy hitter, bats him ninth. Jeebus, it's like Joe doesn't understand the concept of a DH. Might as well just let the pitcher hit.

(75-56) Last night was pitiful. Where the hell are the bats? This week has disaster written all over it if the Bombers don't get it together.

(76-56) A squeeker yesterday. Still a three game edge over Baltimore. Rubber game at 1:05 today.

I'm not a big girardi fan, but think he's done a good job this year. His pitching changes (and non change) today was mind boggling though.

(76-58) Ugh! Losing ground very quickly in the AL East.

(76-59) How do you blow a 10 game lead in the AL East? Now tied with the "O's" for first place with Tampa knocking on the back door. Only 27 games left in the season to get healthy and get it together.

One of your best players had been hurt all season (Gardner), the best closer of all time has been lost all season, A-Rod has been injured, granderson is turning into an all or nothing hitter, and cc had been pitching (relatively, for him) in a mediocre fashion.

Given all that, it's probably the car that they were playing above their heads and a miracle that they've been in the lead for as much of the season as they've been.

eh. bosox last year were a superior team that imploded. the yankees this year are a good team that has been overperforming, coming back down to earth.

(77-59) There was a slight glimmer of fundamental baseball last night in the top of the seventh inning. Let's hope this trend continues. Orioles at Camden Yard will be tough.

(77-60) Too little, too late. An offensive display in the top of the eighth was negated by the same in the bottom of the frame. Six long balls by the "O's" did not help either. Hughes on the hill today.

(78-60) Home runs with runners aboard made the difference. Hughes went six frames and gave up 3 runs. Interesting substitutions by Girardi utilizing 14 players.

(78-61) Tied up for first place again. RISP was 1 for 9. This could have gone our way. It seems they are always trying catch up when they get into the opposing teams bullpen.

(79-61) The day off starts with a good note from the win yesterday, but Teixeira remains questionable on the calf injury. It will interesting to see the new lineup in Boston from the big trade on Tuesday.

(79-62) Hanging tough until the bottom of the ninth. RISP was 1 for 12 last night at Fenway. Now tied with Baltimore. Tampa only two games behind. Sadly, another one run loss.
