Big fan of these bikes, corner like anything and a good tourer.

I picked this one up at Auction - insurance company - had a 'rattle' in the engine :lol3 - also had a soft drop on RHS - usual damage ie footpegs indicators levers etc.

Bargain price - even with the concern of the 'rattle' -

When I went to pick it up I loaded it on the trailer and noticed the sight glass showed no oil - Could I be so lucky - As soon as I got home dumped 2 lts of oil in and fired her up - yep, quiet as a mouse :lol3.

Warmed her up and dumped the oil - new filter and Mobil Synthetic - just incase anything needed a bit of bonding - did the Valves and TBS and runs like warm honey now.

Almost finished, just waiting on a few bits back from BMW Australia so I hope to have her up and running on the road by Xmas or early new year depending on my free time roster over the festive period :loaded ...

    1st day at home ..

Not a fan of the colour at all - its been painted now in a grey metalic, well the colour is from a Jaguar XJ - THK I think the colour code, came up pretty close to the BMW K!2's colour on the 06 Model but with a deeper pearl.

The R259 will lose the right rod bearing first if there is an oil supply issue. I would at leasat check the hot oil pressure and if you want to be more thorough, pull the left jug and check the right rod bearing and since you're already in there, replace it. If you heard a knock, damage has been done. It will show up after you have caned it for a while.

    wrong year.

The '95 is Fireball Orange (I had one)

the Lucifer Orange came out with the 2nd gen 885cc T509 Speed Triple in '97

btw, nice R1100S! I had a 2004 Boxer Cup Prep (mandarin/titanium), one of the best bikes I've ever had, bar none.

You might want to pop over and visit us at boxertrix.com - always a friendly bunch with plenty of knowledge being thrown around. I'm Gromit over there (someone on ADV nabbed 'my' name before I got here grrrrr...)

    I've had 4 R1100S's - a black one, 2xmandarin and the '04 BCR...

Thanks Fluro - Seems the rattle was the cam chain - I will keep an ear out for any further stuff.

Dave, yes I recall seeing the beast over on Pelicans a few years back.

Fireball Orange it is Lads on the Speedtriple - Lucifer was on the 500 Series - 1st Model - circa 1997 I think :scratch

Excuse the mess in the Garage, it isnt always like that :lol3
