This year's ride follows both paved & gravel backroads through the Kootenays and the Okanagan. Like last year, riders are encouraged to travel in small groups. Detailed route instructions will be supplied on Friday morning and will include suggested food and fuel stops. As always, the B.C. Big Trailie Ride is well suited to the big dualsports but all sizes are welcome. Departure point is from the parking lot of the Kuskanax Lodge in Nakusp (1-800-663-0100) and heads southeast to Kaslo, north up past Trout Lake, and back to Nakusp for lunch. Then across the Arrow Park ferry, up the west side of Upper Arrow Lake and on to Revelstoke and stay at the Days Inn (1-800-663-5303) A short ride to Three Valley Gap, then south along Mabel Lake to Lumby and another backroad to Kelowna for lunch. After lunch, an all gravel route to OK Falls, and a windy pavement ride to Oliver, and finally one last gravel road to end up at the Elks Motel (1-888-499-7773; all rooms are held for us so you must mention B.C. Big Trailie Ride when making reservations here) in Keremeos. **This year there will be a no charge catered BBQ on Saturday night at the Elks Motel and a draw for some very cool Adventure stuff including the Ultimate Roadside Tire Repair Kit.** After a short ride to Hedley, up and over the Nickleplate Road to Apex Mtn. and then follow the Princeton Summerland road to Princeton for lunch and farewell. Got them plugged into the calendar.....thanks Ross. Great sign in your posting...could that be a sticker I wonder
Dang! We are planning a ride to Prudhoe Bay in June so probably won't be around for this. However, if our Alaska plans fall through we will be there for sure. If so, I'll hopefully have better luck than I did last year!
Yeah, the bike was written-off. Good news was that I got a 2009 GSA from the insurance company to replace the 2008 I crashed. Too bad I can't make this year's ride. I could have written-off the 2009 and got a 2010!
...excellent.....will also plug this into the calendar and make this my second BCBTR....had a great time last June...looking to repeat...quite excited really...hopefully my riding will improve by then....that sign DOES look like it would be a great sticker...fingers crossed...saludos a todos...hello to all... yatman
Liked it enough to shoot a bit of video: <object width="880" height="506"><param name="allowfullscreen" value="true" /><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always" /><param name="movie" value="http://vimeo.com/moogaloop.swf?clip_id=5620006&server=vimeo.com&show_title=1&show_byline=0&show_portrait=1&color=ff9933&fullscreen=1" /><embed src="http://vimeo.com/moogaloop.swf?clip_id=5620006&server=vimeo.com&show_title=1&show_byline=0&show_portrait=1&color=ff9933&fullscreen=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" allowscriptaccess="always" width="880" height="506"></embed></object> Had a great time last year, hope to make it again this year provided I'm not southbound.
Ron from BC advised me of this ride. I'd planned to be riding into BC around this time. I may have to hook-up with you guys. Sounds like a great way for me to see much of BC that I otherwise wouldn't on my own. Thanks Ron. Cheers Jake
^ C'mon. Read the first post. "Route maps and information will be posted on Jan 2." I'd hoped to be the only lazy, stupid American on this ride. But I guess there's plenty of room for a couple canuck's with the same qualities. I'm going to step-up my planing in an effort to tie in with at least a part of the ride, if not the whole thing. The start and end points will probably dictate this. Cheers
Great video, looks like a fun ride. If I am not further south I will be joining you. Its written on the wall as of now!
