Has anyone put mid mount controls on these bikes? I've always loved the lines on them.

they'd drag way too early. i'm told my america has decent clearance for a cruiser, and i'm ALWAYS scraping the floorboards. if i had mid-mount pegs, i'm pretty sure i'd hafta take the local roundabouts at 10 miles an hour. :-(

i'd just get the bonnie proper for a standard riding position.

Speedmaster gets larger front wheel, different rake & trail, different bars, and a tach vs. the America.

Unfortunately, in Canada, the Speedmaster seems to have lost it's 2nd front disc. Does the US bike still have it?

The Speedmaster has been the bike I've been looking at for sometime now in Black and prefer the flat. Since my 5yo just got a TTR50 I'm looking to get a WRR very soon to play with him but also get me to some trails to scout out ahead of taking him. Still hopeful to pickup a Speedmaster in the future. Beautiful bike!

    had a 2011 America
liked it until a cam chain tensioner replacement under warranty took 6 weeks to get the part in 2012.
(had a bad cam chain tensioner on a 2002 R1200c in 2010. Got the part in 4 days)
handled well, decent power and they look good
rode like an oxcart over small bumps, worst hammering of front suspension of any of 8 bikes I've owned.
will never own another Triumph just because of the wait for parts

I run 13" PS 444 shocks on the rear & Ricor Intiminators with proper preload up front on my 07 SM bagger. No scraping.

I put 14000 miles on an 07 America in one riding season (April to November give or take). Every mile was superb. Those bikes are way overlooked. I ran with all the H-D's anywhere and left them for dust in the mountains.
Great bike and dirt cheap to maintain.

Just picked up a Speedmaster, after years of big trailies. Didnt want a jap cruiser, and had my heart set on a Sportster, but every time I went to look at one they just felt to skinny underneath me and some of the models like low and super low really felt like monkey bikes and Im only 5ft 11. The Speedmaster fitted the bill, and so far Im impressed... although not a V Twin... the engine still has character

Norman Hyde makes mid forward mounts, they're $400+ and have a tendency to bend or so I've heard.

Imagine one of these with the new 1200 engine. As it stands now, I've always liked the thunderbird 1600. Tested it, and it's a great feeling. However, I don't necessarily need all that power to cruiser around up to 80mph.

These speed masters and americas are what, 795cc? That seems a bit small for a cruiser. As I said, not a power addict at all for these types of bikes, but it needs to have a little confortable power left on tap. I should ride one first of course to get a real idea.

Still can't help thinking a 1200 would split the difference right down the middle, and be just perfect. These new twins are supposed to be really torquey, with low rev ceilings. I'd say a perfect match. A thunderbird at 1200cc, at about 12k euro, and I'd be seriously interested!
