Cool pictures. I have a friend that moved to Idaho. He is still there. I can see why.

Nice pics. I see the silver writing never washed off yet on the TA headlight shroud. We're gonna need a few more pics......

Good to hear from you H,

The writing is still there, plus a few more stickers, a few more scratches and another pound or two of epoxy. :lol3

Did you click the links below the pics? A few day rides have gotten lost in the volume of ADV, but I'll add some more when the snow melts.

    Where in Idaho?

Most immigrants land in the Boise area. Way different from where I live. Boise, and south Idaho, has some dramatic scenery. Big Sky stuff. Deserts, big mountains and a lot of openness. Big Sky stuff. Moscow is more a comfortable mix of farm and forest lands with very rugged forested mountains to the east.

    Fall ride to Elk City.

A crispy Nov morning in Moscow, but it will be warmer in the valley.

I pick up Roy in Lewiston. A warm up snack in Kooskia then east on the Sourth Fork of the Clearwater. This is one of my favorite pieces of pavement in the NW. I let Nell have her head and don't take any pictures.

Roy and I run up the Road to Darby, a few miles, till we hit snow. Some poseur pics

Notice the headlight reflection. This is a deep dark canyon.

Not much traffic, but a few firewood gatherers.

Climbing out of the valley at Mount Idaho.

That far ridge is where we just came from, the edge of the Frank Church Wilderness.

Just a few house here, now, but this was one of the early towns in Idaho (before Grangeville). A center for pioneers and gold miners during the Nez Perce Wars.

    Across the Prairie to Winchester

Down Winchester Grade to the Clearwater Valley and on to Lewiston for another warm-up at Roys. It was a cold dark ride home. Over 300 mi today.

I found another. I tagged some pics onto Steep and Rockys Hells Canyon Report.

Everyone knows that Hells Canyon is the deepest in North America, but which is second, third, etc. Well they are all here. Snake, Salmon, Grande Ronde, and Imnaha Rivers all have deep canyon. There are probably streams with mile deep canyons.

The Snake has a road near its full length. A lot of this ID/OR border is the Hells Canyon Nat. Rec. Area. The bit from Hells Canyon Dam to Dug Bar is Wilderness River. Hess Road is near the Wilderness Border in the south. The upshot of this is that we are riding on the edge of a huge wilderness.

I've driven from here in Caldwell to Clarkfork, above Lake Pend Orielle, in my car many times, and to Coeur D'alene once on the bike, but have never ventured far off the beaten paths of Hwy 95 or I84. I think the Palouse is just beautiful, like a rolling sea of vast farmland, it's waves shimmering in the wind. I would love to explore the area more. Nice pics, I especially like your winter photos.

Try a ride up to Bonner's Ferry and hang a right on 2 down to Libby Mt and then up to Eureka on 37 past a verrry long lake, so long you'll think its a river, and then down 93 to Whitefish and GNP and/or...south thru Kalispell and back to 2 back up to Libby. Its a wonderful loop with nothing but tree lined two lanes and beautiful country side.

Great pics, I'm gettin' antsy to get into the woods. Still LOTS of snow in the mountains, and given the winter it will stick around for a while.

Man, those first two photos on the first page are nice :thumb
Almost artificial (in a cool way), like the Wizard of Oz or something!

Idaho is directly south of BC/Alberta, right? You're east of the Rockies?
