The Touratech goodies are nice, but as always, pricey. The rear set pegs would make standing difficult. But I bet it would be fun on gravel roads. Most likely the same results could be acheived with just the tires. But what fun would that be.
No, but have been thinking about its capabilities. Test-drove a GS before I bought the R to feel how they handle different. Like others posted, I think on gravel roads, even muddy roads, it should be ok, as long as you can keep going and keep some speed in it. For the more extreme offroad work where you have to drive real slow, stop and manouver, it's less suited, indeed not balanced well for that.
Finally picked up my F800R yesterday. Riding it back from the Dealers in the pouring rain was so much fun even did some sailing on it going through about 2 ft of flood water. will post some pics when it eventually stops raining
I'm getting rid of a few things for mine if anyone is looking for something. http://f800riders.org/forum/showthread.php/90399-F800R-Stuff-For-Sale?p=681408#post681408
No need to be nervous, check out this (maybe this has been posted before): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DlrkTbbV_bQ
ok a few pics of my Bike First Look at my Bike at The Dealers look at the Rain The Sun Does Shine occasionally in England
Congrats! Looks awesome. First rain on a new bike sucks, I experienced that the other day. Now do me a favour and look after it! (always nice to know where to get parts! ) Bry
It arrived today... Bike porn.. I lurv new bits.. shame they're so damn expensive though! Just need time to fit! Still it's worth staring at.....
The Michelins work fine on hard pack. Might not be the same on goop, though. Pirelli makes a 60/40 tire that will fit the F800R in the MT60-R. I think the Pirelli Scorpion Trail might be available, as well. Metzler makes a cruiser tire in the ME880 that fits. Interestingly, Touratech doesn't sell the tire it shows in the pic of the Scrambler kit. I wrote to them and the response was maybe it was a Heidenau K60 scout or a TKC 80. I can't find either of those anywhere that would fit the F800R stock rims.
Got fitted finally some shots as requested.. Side on shot. Closer shot of the shock body. Of the preload control Closer shot of the bracket that bolts to the head of the shock and right angles for the preload to go onto. Lastly looking up. Feels good, preload knob sticks out slightly, but you don't notice it when riding as it's behind your leg, and I'm more than happy with the result.
