After a lot of work I have finally launched Dubinky, a motorcycle apparel company focusing on enduro/trail riding and dual-sport/adventure riding.

Based out of Colorado and taking its namesake from the legendary Dubinky Wells area outside Moab Utah, the goal of Dubinky was to make apparel that meets a larger range of riding conditions from the mountain single tracks and the Continental Divide Trail in the Rockies to the Kokopelli Trail, slot canyons, desert and sand dunes of Utah. To meet this need is the first line of clothing featured by Dubinky, the Colorado Pant and Jersey.

The Colorado Pant is the culmination of a lot of work and reiterations with the ultimate goal to offer riders a true “do it all” pant, that works in many different climates and can adapt to any type of riding.

-The Colorado Pant is a true 4 seasons riding pant and can be used just as easily in the winter as the summer. This is accomplished by using a shell constructed completely of 100% nylon, which makes the pant virtually wind proof for winter riding.


-For summer riding the pant has four large front and rear vents that flow massive amounts of air and are positioned to offer maximum cooling to the core of the body. The use of equally sized intake and exhaust vents maximize the air flowing over the body which equates to more perspiration being evaporated and a cooler riding pant.

-The Colorado Pant not only functions in a wide range of conditions, but the full nylon shell offers unsurpassed rider protection and durability whether on the street or trail. The entire lower leg is constructed of heavy weight 1680 denier nylon, which offers amazing durability from cuts and tears on rocks and trail debris, but also superb protection while riding on the road. The upper shell is constructed of 840d nylon, which is lighter to provided rider comfort and freedom of movement, but is still durable and offers good protection.


-A lot went into getting the fit just right on the Colorado pant and it features formed knees that are designed to easily accommodate knee pads or braces. The waist of the pant was designed to fit a natural riding position and has a high back waistband, but lower in the front. The legs are also shaped to facilitate a seated position with shaped pieces added to the thighs. All this goes hand in hand making the pant very comfortable for strictly dirt riders or adventure riders alike.


-The pant has many other features that add to rider comfort such as two large pockets, with a secure flap, as well as smaller pockets that work perfectly for an ID and credit card. The pant has both waist and lower leg cinch straps that allow adjustability for the perfect fit.


-Attention to detail is evident throughout the pant with all structural seams being triple stitched, full gain leather inner legs, all YKK zippers and hardware and convenient pull tabs to make use with gloves a breeze.



Matched with the Colorado Pant is the Colorado Jersey. Designed to be a no frills jersey that offers what every rider needs, durability and comfort.


-The Colorado Jersey uses heavy weight moisture wicking micro-mesh material that keeps the rider cool and dry in the summer and is the perfect base layer for winter riding.

Sorry no other colors right now.... Maybe in a few months if things sell decent I can get you guys some more options, especially in the jerseys.

So I know $165 is a big pill to take for pants from an unknown company.

To help get some product out there as cheap as possible I am going to sell one of the sample pairs of pants I have. Only one is available now, so hows $70 plus shipping sound?

The pants are a size Large (40.5-37in waist) and were a sewn sample from the manufacture that is making the current Colorado Pant. This pair is brand new, never worn, and identical to the current pant with the exception of:
-No logos or embroidery anywhere on the pant.
-2 seams on each thigh were only sewn with a single needle vs double needle on the current pant (the seam is still double stitched)
-Fly zipper is plastic coil vs YKK metal
-Leather on the inner legs is a "naked" leather and does not have the high oil content of the current pant. It will still hold up fine, but may show more signs of wear.
-There may be a few faint chalk marks I missed wiping off.....












Fit, function and performance are identical to the current pant.

A while back COXR650L asked if I'd be interested in checking out his new line of Dubinke riding wear, I remembered Ben's thread last year in the Rockies forum soliciting design input, there was some good ideas thrown out from riders I know and respect for their abilities. In this area it's not unusual to be riding desert sand one day and 12,000' forested mountains the next so rarely does one outfit work all year. Ben was shooting for a "all weather" design, my curiosity was piqued!

Being no stranger to quality dirtbike gear, I know if you want some that lasts, it's going to cost you. I recently bought a pair of Moose Sahara pants. First ride I went down and the pants split across the knee, 3" tear, I almost got one ride out of a $110 pair of "quality" pants. They're probably fine for some areas but not here in the rockies.

The gear arrived last night, even though I haven't been riding with it yet, I wanted to give some first impressions. The first thing you notice about these pants is they look rugged, think of a pair of Cargo pants in ballistic nylon. The pants are all black with the Dubinky Logo embroidered on the flap of the cargo pocket, nice! I prefer the subdued look when it comes riding gear, some of the flashy MX inspired designs draw allot of stares from the locals when we DS through places like Truth or Consequences or Roswell NM so subtle is good . You won't feel like James Stewart on the podium wearing this gear.

The two front cargo pockets are large, they'll easily fit my Garmin 60csx when I need to collect tracks on the sly. No shortage of storage for cell phone, wallet and most anything you'd want to carry within reason. They utilize horizontal openings so there's less chance of loosing anything compared to the vertical openings found on some highend brands. Also the fact that they are cargo style means if you do fill them up, it's not going to pull the leg tight when you try to close them. I haven't tested it but the design looks like the pockets will be waterproof. Of course, YKK zippers all around. I usually don't wear over the boot pants because most tend to have baggy legs. Ever put your leg down on the peg and have the kickstart go up your pants leg? It's not pretty come next stop. The Dubinky pants have a cinch strap at the bottom of each leg to keep a tight fit at the cuff. The lower legs are also adjustable so they can be made to fit tight to the boot if preferred. This should accommodate any boot from MX style to a street type boot.

The big challenge as I see it was to create pants that aren't too hot in the summer, too cold in the winter and still provide the protection needed for our kind of riding. Some manufacturers achieve airflow with exotic weaves that usually compromise the garment's crashability and cold weather comfort. Not the case here, the material thickness and coverage is about what you'd expect from rugged durable DS type pants, typically that means they'll be hot in the summer. These incorporate 18" zippered vents on both the front and rear of each leg extending almost to the waist, 4 total. They also have a perforated wicking type liner that is supposed to draw moisture away from the body and provide airflow between the garment's nylon shell and the rider's body. I have no way to test them in hot weather right now but the design looks like it will provide plenty of airflow to the boyz which as you all know is key to staying comfortable.

As for sizing, I'm 5'10"/165#, 33~34" waist. I got the small, I think a 34" waist will be the crossover point to a medium.

The jersey is made of a slightly perforated moisture wicking synthetic with reinforced collar and cuffs. About what you'd expect to see in a football jersey. The color is a white/Grey/black mix, stylish without going James Stewart on your buddies. It compliments the black pants.

From all I can see, Ben incorporated the best of our ideas into his gear. I can attest to the fact that this gear was inspired by ADV riders who do ride, Right On! I'll be posting up my impressions following a ride in a couple weeks, Keep an eye out if you're interested.

I got to see the website today and saw the price of these pants, IMO they are definitely inline with the garment's quality and use. They are priced about what 2 decent pairs of Chinese produced pants cost and you'll need three of those, one for winter, one for summer and one as backup when you shred a pair. I seriously doubt I could shred these pants without getting hurt in the process.

Lastly I want to mention his choice of the name Dubinky, it might sound odd but it's named after the Dubinky Wells region of Whitewash Sand Dunes OHV area in Utah. The area is known for the Dead Cow Loop and The Tubes. Epic trails in an area known for its outstanding riding, the promised land for dirtbikers. If you find yourself in Moab, you won't be dispointed in this ride.

I am 6'4" with a 38 waist and a 36 inseam (jeans) will the large pants be long enough for me?
Also I need at least a XXL jersey, and in some brands a XXXL, any plans on making the jerseys larger?

Use a tape measure and check your inseam and PM me and we can discuss it. "jean" sizes can be very misleading. I would guess they will fit, but a lot really depends on your body type and personal preference. I will cover shipping back if you decide they dont fit.

As things sell my plan is to continue to add additional sizes. This would be for the pants (ie tall sizes) and a larger jeresey and additional designs.

I received a package this week from Dubinky… needless to say, I was both curious and excited to open the box and see what Ben had come up with. You see, I had the same wants in riding apparel as Ben does… I am tired of the cheap crap that is made overseas that just has a name brand on it and because of that, they charge a premium for them. Cheap material, cheap construction but charge a premium??? We, as consumers, deserve better than that. So, with my fingers crossed, I opened the package…

The first thing you will notice is the material. This is Real material. Just by touch, you know that this material will take some abuse. You will then have your eyes pulled toward the leather on the lower inside of the pant legs. Yes, I said leather. Not stretchy plastic stuff, not regular material… but real leather. I don’t know how many riders I have seen – especially with an over the boot pant – that has the insides of the lower legs worn out, tore out, or melted out. Not only do those types of pants look like crap when they get to that stage, but they tend to start becoming snag hazards on foot pegs, kick start levers, or what have you. The Dubinky Colorado pants address this issue with the use of good ole’ leather.

While you are looking at the inventive use of leather, you will more than likely notice that the stitching is great quality. Just about every seam is double stitched and is started and finished well. No loose seams or extra stuff hanging off because of poor workmanship. The snaps, Velcro, cinch loops and zippers are also quality components and are attached well.

I have yet to get out and ride in these pants, but my first impressions are that Ben did a great job in the design to include great quality materials and workmanship. The best things IMHO… These are designed by riders for riders. It’s also made in the U.S.A. with materials made in the U.S.A. and is the product of a new company located here in the U.S.A.

Ryan thanks for the awesome write up, I really appreciate it. I swear you and RideFreak are better at writing product descriptions than I am. Thanks for highlighting some of the design features that I really did not address and taking all the pictures.

I think though in full disclosure I should say the stuff I sent Ryan did not fit that great and I just went off his jean size. I am learning there is ZERO correlation to jean size and actual waist and inseam size (also individual body type is hard to account for, ie thick vs thin legs, tall torso vs tall legs, flat ass vs JayLo) it is really important to use a tape and not go off just jean size. I am curious to hear what Ryan's actual waist line measures.

The sizes for the pants are actual measurements and do not reflect jean size.


So for example....

I am 6'1"-6'2" 210 lbs and wear 34x34 jeans, but 36in dress pants. My actual waist measurement is almost 37in and inseam is 32in. The mediums fit me great in the waist, but I still have to cinch them down to about 1/2 the adjustable range to make them comfortable when riding aggressively. They are too short, but still wearable for me (mostly because I did not make any taller sizes for the first run:huh) The Larges are WAY WAY to big and the Smalls WAY, WAY to small.
