Anyone up for a group ride from San Francisco to WARPED VIII? Bonerov, and 666 may be interested. We don't know if pierce is inviting, Gerg ratted him out, so we hijacked his route. mongox proposed KSU in San Jose at noon.
It's unfortunate but Rancheria is closed. The way this winter has been I thought it would have been open but this last storm we had on Monday dumped quite a bit of snow. We really won't know until April and last minute at that. The route that Gary proposed is a good one but there can be deep sand. The infamous pic that's been posted of Longtallsally's biff is on that road (Kelso Valley Road after the pavement ends). Chimney Peak can also have deep sand but only a short section. I've done them both on the 1150 GS and I'm a sand wiennie. For pavement you can not beat Bodfish Caliente to Bakersfield to Granite-Woody to 155. Nice loop with lots of options and just a little of the city. I will probably lead a loop ride of that route on Saturday. I'm not a patient person so it could be interesting Then there is the double track/single track options. Several folks have explored these options and I'll let them report on those options. EVERYBODY needs to ride their own ride. Figure out where the group will meet so the slower folks don't hold up the faster ones. Having a smoker or two helps (smoke breaks). We don't want anyone hurt. Gerg
It's permissible to walk against the arrows after 9pm or a sixer, which ever comes first. And I just noticed after all these years (and not sure what to make of it) that they want you to put your shaft in right behind Bud's groove. :eek1
Raft! Not shaft... But the cook area labeled Cow has me concerned AND Stu has thought all these years he's been in site 8? No wonder he stumbles around a lot... (Hey Stu, 11 or 13 is where you USUALLY throw your tent). Gerg
Actually, I was more than a little bit joking and figured Stu was as well (which is usually a safe bet). In either case, why not take Panamint Valley or Trona/Wildrose back south to Ridgecrest instead of seeing all the same stuff twice? -M
Looking for riding partner on Thursday heading to camp, I am flexible on departure time. Leaving Vta county or I could meet up with somebody coming from the south. Trying to minimize slab time. Rds like Calient Bodfish are cool. I'll be on the thumper so I won't be up for 70mph + runs.
We could connect from 178 to 9 mile canyon via very easy Canebrake dirt road. Then we avoid most of 395.
a man with a raft with a shaft. cooking with cows.. what kind of warped people are you.. cant wait to meet y'all. I will be heading down from the northbay with goin postal wed. night or thursday morning. I will have to wait until he returns from his mexican adventure to finalize when we wil leave and route planned
prolly should use my reading glasses when checking out a map. *note to self - write stu's camp site # down & put with flash lite.*
Indeed I was. The "route" I proposed is a stumble around the campground (the side loop is a trip to the pisser). I'm up for Piute Mtn Rd. loop on Saturday. I got shut down by snow trying from both sides 2 years back, and like Gary I hit the top of Rancheria last year via Sawmill and got turned back. I think the locked gate was enough, no need to fell a tree right behind it. [ Woodstock]No mo' snow! No mo' Snow! No mo' snow! [/ Woodstock]
Sounds good, i can ride sweep , pretty basic ride, need to take it easy after sustaining a major concussion recently. Even worse NO booze for me. RIDE ON!!!!
