any one know were I can get the uni filter and pre filter in the UK ?
Just fitted a Hyperpro rear shock today .Went out for an hour a quick blast round town ,along a verry potholed gravel road and a 80mph blast and first impreshions are verry good . I have 1 thing bothering me and that is how close the remote reservoir is to the exhaust pipe (5-10mm) when i was out i stoped and i could feel the heat on the reservoir .This cant be good ,im thinking it will get the oil in the shock verry hot and lead to problems . has any one had any problems with this ? I was hopping to fit some 43mm WP forks as well today but my local enginering wa**** has fu**** the dropout on the for legs .(any one with some sper trashed 43mm WP forks want to sell me the dropouts ?).O ye i have 1 other thing . i fitted a TT tank last week using the OE tank vent method .I filled both tanks up and went out for a 50 mile ride .when i got home the TT tank was still full.must be a air leak .i was going to look into it today but when i leaned the bike over the gas cap was leaking petrol .the petrol has gone from the TT tank to the OE tank while being parked up. I know a few other people have been having there gas cap leak .has the TT/X tank then stoped working ?? i think i might drill some holes in the OE tank the way that TT recommend .

The uni filters are sold by touratech. Don't know about the pre filters.

Adventure Spec recently became the Europe wide distributors for Unifilter. So in principle they will have everything, shortly. Not sure when all their stuff is coming in, but since they are now the distributor in Europe, they will have the best idea when it is coming in and what price it will be.

Something like 2500. And about 6500 for the Countrys if I remember correctly.

The only number I remembered exactly was the 3760 Challenges. They made about 3900 of them, but they rest were involved in crash testing, or were written off as demonstrators or for what ever other reason were not sold.

Kito, if you have a leaking original fuel cap, even with the tank plumbed in as TT say, you will have fuel leaking from there when the TT tank is full as the head of petrol will be above the original tank filler level.
So, first thing is to fix the leaking original leak.
Glad to hear you took the jump and moved away from the airshock..... it's the best mod I've done and it totally transformed the bike.

    I'm working on this.

I don't think the touratech would be much of an improvement.

Looks like my seepage is through the internal cam lock mechanism of the stock cap. The touratech has a similar internal mecanism. We need a plain ole twist lock cap. I am checking on it from Vortex.

Looks like we have a 6-bolt mounting plate on the tank with holes on a 55 mm circle.

    Will update.

There apparently is a way to look up the production number from the VIN number ... some online german converter. I will look into it and revert

Generally, with automotive VINs, the last 6 digits are the "serial number". I presume it is similar with 17 digit motorcycle VINs. However, I don't know if the first XChallenge would be 000000. Those serial numbers may include all 650 singles or even all BMW motorcycles for a given year.

Using this link, put in your BMW motorcycle or car serial number (last 7 digits of VIN) and it will give you a complete parts fiche and the production month and year.

    My 2002 R1100S was built in 5/2002
My 2007 G650 XCh was built in 3/2007
My 1999 323i convertible was built in 12/1998

I know this does not answer the original poster's question, but this is great info to have.

    Hey there,

I'm looking to have a steering damper on my bike but trying not to drop the +$800 with Emig, but also not a fan of welding on the frame...so was looking to see if I could get the Scotts kit (~$340 from Renazco), and then buy a bolt on stem from another firm...has anyone done this? Would this work?

As a side note: I was aiming to get a Rallye Moto kit but their customer service sucks and seems that several vendors are letting go of their products...

Thanks, and apologies in advance for the reposts (trying to get the most critical mass)

    Cheers,
    Nadim

I went to the above link. Production date for mine was 11/2006. The last four are 0024, so does that mean I have the 24th one produced?

    Just wondering

Same data for mine, but US version. Maybe it's the 24th one for the US? We probably only got 1 here for every 200 made for Europe!

Anybody got a European version with the last four of 0024?:hmmmmm

Heck, I don't know, and it doesn't matter, but it must be worth thinking about and discussing, or else you guys wouldn't have brought it up! Right? Kind of interesting.:*sip*

Hmmmm, I always thought mine was a later production one because of the ABS and stock powerlet plug. But it says it was produced 3/2007 (last three are 480).

Found this kind of interesting. Look at the difference in production months for USA and Europe.

Last 4 of mine are 0000.

Is mine the first one then?
