Just wanted to post two pictures of my DRZ. I recently went on a trip to Redwood National Park with my wife and daughter. They took the BMW F800GS w/sidecar (posted on advrider) and I rode the DRZ. It was great riding and camping. Planning on more trips. <table style="width:auto;"><tr><td><a href="https://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/EPwLe_oaGQ8Bl8j6u38gvstKup43wnNYJt1UqL-LXVY?feat=embedwebsite"><img src="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-TnPlvnBQF3c/UIcgITJbTAI/AAAAAAAAAVY/ASsoC5xdaMA/s144/DRZ%2520photo%25201.JPG" height="108" width="144" /></a></td></tr><tr><td style="font-family:arial,sans-serif; font-size:11px; text-align:right">From <a href="https://picasaweb.google.com/103596838221571036464/FirefoxDownloads?authuser=0&authkey=Gv1sRgCNrjzeCc9KimgQE&feat=embedwebsite">Firefox Downloads</a></td></tr></table> <table style="width:auto;"><tr><td><a href="https://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/NmzvbG1iNQ1H67710b06MctKup43wnNYJt1UqL-LXVY?feat=embedwebsite"><img src="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-GLaitpfZ1k4/UIcgOeIxOAI/AAAAAAAAAVg/him8afR-Zx4/s144/DRZ%2520photo%25202.JPG" height="108" width="144" /></a></td></tr><tr><td style="font-family:arial,sans-serif; font-size:11px; text-align:right">From <a href="https://picasaweb.google.com/103596838221571036464/FirefoxDownloads?authuser=0&authkey=Gv1sRgCNrjzeCc9KimgQE&feat=embedwebsite">Firefox Downloads</a></td></tr></table>
If the fuel screw is 3 turns out, it may vibrate out and you could lose it. If you need to turn it out that far to make it run right, it means you need to go with the larger #25 pilot jet. With the larger pilot, you'll only have to turn the fuel screw out about 2 turns or so. I should have asked this first. Do you have an extended fuel screw that you can adjust with your fingers?
Any of you guys run a Clark tank, Raptor petcock, fuel filter, and a stock carb? Not much room for a filter and I kind of like running one. Pictures appreciated.
Could you let me know the details of your bars/HDB setup, and triple clamp? I want to do the same, and curious to see a few pics of t. Thanks
Thanks, i will order a 25 pilot, and will install it next time im in the carb, wish i had it available to me today, when i had the carb out. oh, and i do not have the extended fuel screw, it is the stock flat head one that is way in there, the extended one sure would be nice to have. Thanks for the info, the bike is running great now that way it is, so i will just ride it.
Dont know about a dyno, but my butt dyno could definately tell that the bike now has a much better pull when i open it up, starts up great and runs very strong, im happy with it. Thanks for all the info and advice guys, much appreciated
I totally agree with you. We took a same trip in June/July (50 days, 18750 km) to Mongolia. I rode on a DRZ400 and I had only 1 problem: the drivechain was worn out after 17 000 km Here you can find some info/picture about the trip: RIDE TO MONGOLIA 2012
I run ProTaper RC High bars and the HDB with the ADVdx top clamp for two Powerlet outlets and a couple of push buttons for the ignition. I use the HDB led turn signals and mirrors. The stabilizer is a Scotts sub-mount with the BRP triple clamp. I'm also using a Vapor dash. The RAM mount is for my GPS. I'm still looking for a brighter headlight but haven't settled on anything yet. I'll try and get a couple of pics.
I found a couple on my computer. <table style="width:auto;"><tr><td><a href="https://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/HW1c2lthbavgUi5E9X7PGw6suYQNNVrMH0NC_hLdHj4?feat=embedwebsite"><img src="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-YaCPeLH4f8E/UIgOP0bBHbI/AAAAAAAAAV0/bhy2i6xg-tc/s144/IMG_0890.JPG" height="108" width="144" /></a></td></tr><tr><td style="font-family:arial,sans-serif; font-size:11px; text-align:right">From <a href="https://picasaweb.google.com/103596838221571036464/DropBox?authuser=0&authkey=Gv1sRgCM37tfu-v4__uAE&feat=embedwebsite">Drop Box</a></td></tr></table> <table style="width:auto;"><tr><td><a href="https://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/OzYEhGz44Of4Xyf5bETKOw6suYQNNVrMH0NC_hLdHj4?feat=embedwebsite"><img src="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-2lGl6d951g4/UIgOXSj6VKI/AAAAAAAAAV8/tZLwnUczFFQ/s144/IMG_0894.JPG" height="108" width="144" /></a></td></tr><tr><td style="font-family:arial,sans-serif; font-size:11px; text-align:right">From <a href="https://picasaweb.google.com/103596838221571036464/DropBox?authuser=0&authkey=Gv1sRgCM37tfu-v4__uAE&feat=embedwebsite">Drop Box</a></td></tr></table>
It was pretty easy once I figured out the spring clip. Also a good idea to estimate where you need the preload rings and get them close before you put the shock back in. It's a pain to adjust them while on the bike. Mark where they are now before you remove anything, then loosen them up so you can remove the spring.
Thank you for the information, I really appreciate it! I'm going to keep my OEM computer/Speedometer, but the rest of it is going to be very similar, I think. Possibly a Scotts triple clamp, instead of BRP, but not sure yet. Ordering through mail order into Canada gets expensive, and I only want to do this once! I have a JD Jetting kit sitting on the shelf, when winter hits, and I would also like to do the bars/clamps/stabilizer this fall. All stuff I said I wasnt going to do to the bike when I got it....
Had a very similar experience. Was going to leave it fairly stock but then saw the other DrZ on this forum and ThumperTalk and sort of lost my mind. Still, I'm really happy with it and would have probably done the same to a KTM. Maybe nothe engine work. Would like to get a nice wheetset though. Tried to keep OEM speedo but I couldn't get it to fit right. Good luck.
Added a Devol skid plate yesterday, that i purchased used on here from a fellow inmate, fit was great, seems like a real nice piece. Still need to do rad guards and case savers.
Get those case savers on there. Just a tip over on the driveway has been known to cause broken covers. And pull the shift lever and round off the back side. From the factory it has a fairly sharp angle that can increase case cover damage.
