Your bike at a Pub or Bar

I've always found Pubs interesting. As a younger man it was for the beer and later as a venue for a ride out. Although there are 60,000 pubs still in existence in the UK today, they are currently closing at a rate of 50 each week. Once closed they rarely reopen as most are either demolished or converted to housing. Many of these buildings have interesting history.

So why not post a picture of your bike outside a Pub/Bar/Watering Hole/ Boozer/Public House, It could be your local or maybe one from an epic bike trip.

I'll start with this one, The White Hart in Denmead. I remember sitting in the beer garden at this pub with a Coke and a packet of crisps whith my Parents and Grandparents when I was just a lad and later taking my then Girlfriend, now Wife, out here for a drink.

The Golden Lion



During the period leading up to D-Day, the Allied Commanders were based nearby at Southwick House and the Golden Lion was the unofficial officers' mess. Plaques recording this can be seen at both the front and rear of the pub. It is noted that while Eisenhower drank beer, Montgomery confined himself to grapefruit juice. Immediately behind the Golden Lion is Southwick Brewhouse which has a Victorian Brewery Museum on the premises and also sells bottled ales and cider.

Should be a lot of pirates in this thread.

My humble contribution - the Fogcutter Bar in Haines Alaska...





My bike is the Silver (faster) one in the picture above, the Orange (slower) one belongs to my riding buddy

Since moving to this side of the pond finding a good "real" pub has not always been that easy, especially round these here parts, but this place in Haines was good.

If it hadn't of been for the ferry we needed to catch that day I would have stayed here all night.

Haines is a cool place, its completely surrounded by Canada and has its own brewery - oustanding

I suppose its due to several factors. People have less disposable income due to the cost of living rising and many people in the UK having pay freezes due to the recession. The pubs are suffering from rising rent costs and I suppose the smoking ban hasn't helped. The only pubs that seem to be thriving are those that make their money on serving food.

An article in 'The Independant' said

Pubs without the room to provide an attractive outside areas for smokers, and those that are not big on food have faced particular difficulties. The move towards spirits and wine has hit the beery pub. Research shows that there has been a marked trend in the rise of "pre-loading", where drinkers, young adults mostly, buy booze from a shop and down it at home before groggily wandering off to a pub or bar, thereby spending less money on binge drinking.

The White Horse

My Bike at Woolfie's here in Houston. Lunchtime on a weekday and the place was loaded with eye-candy...!

I remember what I ate as well... Blackened catfish and some awesome cole slaw that must have been a secret recipe...



Most of the ladies there were sucking mud bugs..., would have loved to be a crawfish that day...

Would have given it 5 stars but I did'nt like the fries.... Will definately go back when i'm in the hood.

Left my garmin on the handlebars and it was still there when I left...

The Wicor Mill is named after a wind mill that that was built close by in 1826.

In 2010 the Wicor Mill pub suffered a fire in the living accomidation above the bar.
