Like the way your bike is turning out. I made a caliber bracket for my build out of 4" angle iron .Cut one side off and shimmed to fit. i have put 3500 miles on it with no problems. My bike is not as nice as yours but it is a blast to ride and beat the hell out of.

Great build and the vid was excellent.

I have a V and have done the DL wheel swap but not the DRZ forks yet.....but was wondering how your V was to ride compared to your friends XT660Z in the video, I used to have a XT660R which was great except for the engine on long road sections.

Looking forward to your next mods.

I have only tried out the XT660Z for a ahort section of gravel. No sand or trails yet. What I can say is that the
suspension of the XT660Z felt smoother over the potholes. But thas was when I where riding the Versys with the
original suspension. We will see how they compare next summer with the new suspension on the Versys.

I think it`s going to be awsome with the new suspenion, and the XT660Z will eat dust

I have a few things to get from the post office next week

And hopefully the caliper adapter and cover plate will be done soon.

So in a week or two there will hopefully be some updates on the build.

Got some new goodies mounted to the bike.

I wanted a new GPS-mount and decided to go with the Touratech lockable mount.

Some stuff from my bicycle was cut, drilled and mounted together to form a adapter from the
Touratech mount to my "windshield brackets".





The new fairng is mounted to the bike, will post pics in a day or two.

so glad to have you still here! Especially after our communication concerning sudden loss of friends a few days ago!
'Set on fire' sounds like an idiot at work?! And the circumstances (2 nights in a row) point in this direction, too! Please take care for yourself! So. I have had some time to process the events that occurred last weekend. I been offered a place to stay for
as long as I need by some friends. I will not be able to move back to my apartment for about 2-3 months.

But I now feel a lot better and am in the mood to post some new pics of the Kawasaki Dakar

First, the new fairing from Off The Road:


It almost makes a perfect fit over the OEM light-frame. Only need to remove these:


Nothing you can`t do with a saw


And off it goes.


And finally plug them both.


Allmost forgot, also have to bend these on each side of the frame.



I just took the brackets from the old fairing and bent them into shape.

One at each side of the fairing, and one at the bottom.



I know the are not the nicest brackets. But they will do the job.

you're ingenious!
Just as I always thought an off-road-Versys should look like!!! Nice to see that at least one person is around to share my view.
Concerning colour: I'd try to make it part of the blue and white colour-design of the bike. My proposition: upper front in white to resemble a competition-number-plate. And a low white bow to pick up the design of your tank-panel. The rest of it in the same blue colour as the bike.
As already said: I'm struck!!!

Just wondering if you have lowered your foot pegs? The stock foot peg height is cramped for me on the road ( i'm 6'2) and it's very cramped off road. If you have to stand and sit a lot like you do on a dirt bike your legs will be shot in no time. and another problem is i have already broken the shifter side peg mount off and if i lower the pegs it will make the mount weaker because of the leverage.

If your going to ride on gravel and dirt roads at a slower pace and stay seated most of the time it will not be that big of a deal.
Any concerns or idea's .

As far as the color of your bike, what ever you like. Hay it's going to get scratched up no matter what the color is.

Have to wait until summer to paint it thou. So I have a lot of time to think about it.
