How long of a waiting period is there to get the file

I've been waiting for months at this point and have essentially given up any hope I'll be able to do any meaningful planning for a trip this year.

Ok thanks. I'm thinking about going to Gatlinburg from morgantown down but would really like to find mainly gravel and dirt. I've found routes from Tennessee back up to Huntington but can't decide what way to get there. I know there's a place for all this but this sit is not very new user friendy

If anyone wants it, I got tired of waiting and put together a route between Winchester, VA and Marion, VA (around 300 miles) based on "clues" from a TET ride report I found on here, along with Google Maps. It's just a Word file...but it might be a start for planning your own trip.

Disclaimer: I haven't ridden this route, so don't know if it's good or bad, and I have no idea how closely it corresponds with the actual TET.

Thanks for putting that together... something to try while waiting for TET and TETs

I tried to request Tet after getting Tet_S last year. Have no trecieved anythign in reply about Tet yet either.

It's worth the wait, but honestly something you can patch sections of together based off where you launch from. I have the tracks, but made some changes based on closed forest service trails i either checked prior to or made 'just in case' bypass routes. I threw together a connecting route to get to the Dragon and back as well. BTW, the Dragon was a letdown compared to the 'real deal' back roads with no turn warnings or center strips. Hopefully they will be back on the distro again soon. Me and a buddy i ride with each year will go from VA to the end of the TET, and then along a route i put together to get to the real end of the Appalacian Trail. That might get a bypass, since i hear the park looks funny at dual sports bikes, has very limited parking at the trailhead for the last couple miles, and has a strictly enforced visitor cap each day. Anyway, sorry no real answers for those waiting, but tons of great riding all along the trail. Take the roads you want, turn onto dirt when you see it...and good luck wiping the smile off your face.

I just rode the TET from northern Massachusetts through to southern Pennsylvania.
Kudos and big thanks to all who had a hand in plotting the trail. It was a perfect mix of riding and I thoroughly enjoyed all of it.
However.... mass was too much to get through on a loaded adventure bike, yes, I got stuck, yes, I had to call for help, yes, it took me 4 hours to get going again.
Do I pushed on through to NewPalz, ny and camped for the night.
Next day was all smiles, picked up the trail in port Jervis, N.Y., followed the Delaware water gap on New Jersey side of PA border through to Stroudsburgh, really nice ride. Shout out for buttermilk falls, find it, go there.
The rest of the riding was, like I said, the perfect mix. Un-maintained seasonal roads, state park roads, twisties and even some fast stuff
Please note that Swatara state park is closed to motorised vehicles and as much as I would love to go treating down a groomed bridal path on my dr 650, I did not think it was appropriate.
Twin pines is an awesome campsite with best bathrooms I've ever seen in a campsite. Only $21 for the night.
Day the was spent heading south west through P.A.towards and through Michaud. Please note that a lot of the roads through there are closed till April 21 but still plenty to ride.
At some point I got on the 30 west, also a nice ride once you get out of the towns, up and down twist, fast mountain roads. From Ligonier I went north west through some really pretty P.A.countryside until I made it to Pittsburgh.
All told, the days, two nights and 820 miles. Once I completed MA section I can cross it off the bucket list.

I'm going thru some old TeT files....I can't find anything around Ligonier. What was the name on the specific track(s) around Ligonier and Pittsburg? Does it meet up with TwvT around Wheeling?

Tet heads south through Michaud to WV.
But my destination was Pittsburgh so I just turned west.
I don't remember any street or rout names, I just wanted to avoid tragic through Greensburg so I just cut north west from Ligonier towards Pittsburgh.

Thanks...Tried to do some riding thru/around Michaud way back before TeT, TPAT, and GPS.....was not real sucessful....it was a real maze.

Were you able to navigate around that section without it being a problem?

Yes, there's is a road that runs parallel to the park. Twin pines campsite is on that road and I stayed there for the night, very nice. Picking up in the trail again was easy.

When you say "Trail" your talking about the route?? And how is the route on the unpaved sections ??

Yes, I do mean the route. I just call it the trail as in grand eastern.....
The dirt sections are mostly state park roads, some maintained (nice and smooth), some un-maintained (nice and bumpy). Just as the route in general has a terrific mix of road types, dirt, asphalt, twisties, fast, scenic etc there is also variety in the type of dirt roads. All good though, except the mud.
Generally I have found dirt roads to be mostly hard pack with rocks and roots. At this time of year though there is some mud that you may have trouble with. I got stuck in northern MA and some roads are closed. There wasn't anything too challenging and even the most technical stuff was easy peasy on my loaded Dr 650 -except for the mud. Did I mention the mud?
The unpaved sections take you through some spectacular scenery and were thoroughly enjoyable. You'll be going along valleys, up hills, down hills, forests and farms. Lakes and rivers. All just real nice.
I always enjoy laughing at myself when I imagine myself to be riding the Dakar on my adventure bike, the only vehicle that capable of this type of terrain, and then I pass a 1995 Ford escort driving along as happy as could be. That happened too. But they wouldn't have made it through the mud. Also some of the UN maintained roads would have been to tough and bumpy, and you would need to go slowly in a for wheel drive vehicle over them but they are a blast on a dual sport.
