Called the local number, bike hasn't run in 10+ years. Guy on the phone didn't know too much about the bike other than they wouldn't take the $500 I offered. Looks like they deal in a lot of older metric stuff. I live in the area and wanted to go see the bike, but they were interested in only describing it on the phone versus me seeing in person.

    As always, buyer beware.

I love dreamers. Their unrealistic expectations make the fall that much more fun.

I don't think the guy is a dreamer, I think he's waiting for a sucker.

For more laughs, look at the feedback and the prices some have paid for parts bikes. Looks like he can find a few suckers now and then.

That price would be ok if the bike was running. Since it needs a complete resto or damn near it I think the $500 offer was fair.

Honestly, if you called me up and offered me $500.00 over the phone I wouldn't have taken you serious either. You probably would have slammed down the phone in disgust to the sound of me laughing loudly.
But, it's all a moot point because I would have parted the bike and made several thousand on it instead of listing it complete.
Right now I would pay $800 for it. And clean house.

wire--I don't disagree that $500 might be insulting, and I actually said $500-700. But I am local and was interesting in seeing the bike in person and the seller wasn't fond of that idea. The bike might be a nice $3,000 bike once someone puts a couple of grand of parts and work into it.:D

I know where there is a 56 Chevy Bel Air that was running when parked. That was about 40 years ago, but it should be fine.
If you are local to him, and he won't let you come see the bike that would be enough reason for me to not even consider it.

What is he going to do if you buy it? Ship it across town to you so you can't see what a POS it is until he has your money.

He turned down an offer for $1350 on Fleabay. :huh That seems a pretty fair offer. He must think he has something special there.

The first listing I noticed was BIN for $3900 or Make Offer. That must have ended like we thought because he re-listed it at $3250 BIN or Make Offer.

Just saw your post Canoe. $1350 is MORE than fair for this non-running unit.

Heck, If he'd remove the rear fender, slap one them "humpy" cafe seats on it, the "cafe" crowd would be wait'in in line to give him 6 grand.:lol3

I guess I'm missing something. EBay mindset:
A nice straight R75/5 with a load of rare period accessories doesn't bring $2900.00
But the near same bike, with no accessories, a (humpy) cafe seat and and no rear fender doesn't meet the reserve when bid to $6700.00.
I don't get it......I'm sure someone will enlighten me.

Somebody is smoking crack. $4000 for a PD tank and seat/rack.. maybe if a working bike was underneath it.
