It is time to start planning the Cancer Council ride for 2012. This time I am thinking about starting the ride in March. How does that fit with the Queensland riders? March will suit the Tasmanian riders and I will plan the entire ride so that the NT segment is not until May which is a bit cooler up there . I would like the ride to go all the way around this year. Last year we raised over 40,000 which is a bit more than the year before. I may need to post separately in the different riding areas as well (as I have done in previous years). Bruce
Thanks triple hoe. I am looking forward to a bigger event this year (including Tasmania and the trip all the way around Aus) Bruce
Hi Bronx, Im back in - but April from the WA side is better for me. It'll prolly take you old guys that long to get around over there anyhoo.. Are you running with the same logo this year - or another??? The sooner we get it out the better - and the sooner I can hit up those who need hitting...
I like the idea of starting in March, the weather will be better in Vic. Count me in again for this year, for the Melbourne to SA leg. If we have trouble getting the Spanner from Vic into SA again this year, I'm aiming to have a back up plan to go as far as Adelaide if needed.
Hi Pete. April is OK for with me for the spanner to arrive in WA. We are running with the same logo so you can use it to get the message out there. Do you need any stickers or beer coolers? Start hitting as many as you can. Bruce
I am starting the 2012 Cancer Council ride in March next year. How does that effect Brisbane riders that time of year? It will be early March kick off in Brissy. Bruce
G'day Bronx. I'm in, again. Finger's crossed. I would like to actually ride a bit further this time around. Maybe from the start to Adelaide? If that comes off, it will be on the Tiger. Twin tracks required.
At this early stage I'll throw myself in there too and will assist if possible to get the spanner further into SA as required. Be a good chance for the newly forming Green Triangle Riders to do something together. Gags
I'm liking the sound of this. Maybe we can get our heads together and work out a route through SA Gags. Well that is if no one else want's to do it. Thought I'd try the Bacchus Marsh to Hamilton via Wombat state forest, Mt Cole and the Grampians again this year as I think all but Redmans Rd in the Grampians will have been repaired after the land slips. I'll keep you posted for when I do a recci in the new year, maybe Captain Cook would like to join us?
I'll be up for that......I have linked this thread to the Green Triangle Region thread so we will try to work on that and make a big trip out of it......hopefully!!
A couple of weeks ago there were still a couple of roads shut, but we'll be kicking around there on Sunday and will try to get some updated info.
