i heard there is some riding Near Tillamook State Forest and was wondering if this is true. i have a relative who has a vacation home on the water in Neskowin just north of lincoln city. and i see there is lots of forest land. minutes away from his house. i was wondering if there are any trail systems in that area for dirt biking/dual sporting. i was thinking about going for a 3 day weekend maybe 4 days some time next spring/summer and bringing a few people who might be interested. nice place to stay with some riding if there is any down in that area.

if anyone has anything on this it would be much appreciated.

That's like asking is there any riding in Walker Valley?

Also Sand Lake and Upper Nestucca are in the region. Lots of fun riding over that way.

Trask county park is a nice place to stay, about 12 miles from Tillamook. Get your maps, GPS and hit the trail. Lots of plated options only limited by fuel. You can google up the TCP for site specific info.

Neskowin is a good 40 minutes from Tillamook, and another 20 to the riding areas of the Trask and Wilson River. The Upper Nestucca and Sandlake would be the closest, but still not minutes away. Upper Nestucca is BLM and Sandlake is USFS, for more info.

There are lots of logging roads to explore and you can have some fun connecting the Upper Nestucca and Trask and then Wilson basins if you wanted. Lots of OHV areas near Tillamook...not so much near Neskowin.

WTF is Turkeycross? Cross as in CrossCountry Motorcycle Riding, Cross as is Cyclocross, Cross as in nail a turkey to a wooden cross then worship it by dancing the turkey jig while clenching it's feathers in yer buttocks?

Yes...This is almost correct. The cross is placed in the center of a large pile of wood. All participants are naked. The pile is lit on fire and everybody dances around it until the bird is cooked. At this time there is a large drunken, naked gorging of mass food until everybody passes out. It is an age old Pagan tradition celebrating the Pilgrims sticking it to the Indians. It happens every year about this time. :evil

Just a good old fashioned mud puddle slogging in the rain ride with beer, whiskey, a fire, and LOTS of food waiting at the trucks

Applegate riders fixed most of the mudholes for the year. Should have had a good time
