Greater Williamsburg Tag-O-Rama

I have been playing the Richmond Commuter Tag, the Hampton Roads, and Virginia Tag-O-Rama's and thought I would give it a whirl for this neck of the woods.

I am shamelessly copying the rules and verbiage of my brethren before me, so here goes:
Any inmate can play this game. You do not have to live in the Greater Williamsburg area or even the state. If you are retired and don't have to work. Or you are independently wealthy, great you have more time to ride than the rest of us. Play along.

The geographic limits to the game are the following:

York County
Charles City County
Essex County
Hanover County
Gloucester County
Lancaster County
Mathews County
Middlesex County
New Kent County
Northumberland County
City of Williamsburg
James City County
King William County
King and Queen County
Westmoreland County
Surry County

Tag must be findable. Maintained gravel and hard packed dirt is OK, but make sure to let folks know that gravel/dirt is required to get to your tag. No single track please. Dual sporting inclusive enough that the average guy who is willing to truly leave the pavement can be included (like me!).

Include clues in your tag. Don't make the clues useless, not everyone is a Jeopardy contestant wanna be."

Rule #2 File photos are acceptable for setting a tag (winter only), BUT are unacceptable for claiming a tag.

Rule #3 No whining!

Rule #4 (from Retro) Repeating a Tag location. This is bound to happen, and if it does, so be it. Pulling a tag after its posted has more downsides than just letting it go. Suppose someone went after the original tag, and someone else went after the reposted tag? There would be confusion and understandable annoyance (at least) depending on the situation.
So, in the future, once a tag is posted, it stays.[FONT=&quot]

Rule #5- pending

Rule # 6 The 36 Hour Rule. This rule is designed to keep the game moving and is still in effect. If someone makes a Grab, they have a 36 hour window to post the next Tag. If the Grabber does not post a new Tag within this 36 hour period then the last Tag is back in play for a Grab (Steal).


We want this game to move as quickly as possible.

For those of you who are new to tag in general. This is the way it works. A photo is taken of a bike in a scene. It is posted on this thread. Clues are provided for the tag's location. You solve the clues or recognize the location from the picture. You ride out to the location. Put your bike in the same scene. Take a picture and identify the location in your post's subject heading. If you are the first to post your picture on the thread, then the new tag's location is yours to determine. The cycle repeats itself.

If someone beats you to the tag (posts it first then you have been 'Bruced'. Don't ask me where this term comes from just accept it, ok?)

This is your opportunity to share with other riders your favorite haunts, historic sites, etc around our area.

I will post the first Tag.

I'll be interested in seeing how this game goes since there aren't too many of us out yonder.

I visit this place on occasion. There is a small picnic shelter where I sometimes take my lunch.

maybe so but the last tag i saw was the one you grabbed at the chick marina.

I sent you a PM explaining the move to the ADV forum and starting the Greater W'burg Tag.

One suggestion, put a time limit on how long someone may possess the tag before they post a new one, so that it doesn't sit for days without a new tag.

What do you suggest for a time limit? Being new to all of this , etc.

How about between 48 and 72 hours max maybe?

across the street(well actually 2 streets and a rr track) is the only place in williamsburg to satisfy all of the forum's thirst at one time! the cost of admission may be a bit steep though!
