WOW, nice movie! I noticed that the A.T. and the old school Tigers look rather alike. I am curious to know how they compare performancewise.

How big a deal is it to buy a new or used A/T in Europe and ship it to the USA and get it licensed? Is this bike available in Japan used? Where is it made?

wow ,this is wierd...i was just in paying my insurance bill for my new v-strom and i seen one of these bikes in the parking lot of the ama..never seen one before.i looked at his licence plates and couldn't figure out where he was from.(not north america).then i looked around trying to find him and there was nobody with riding equipment on in there.to bad ,cause i wanted to talk to him or her...oh yah this was in lethbridge,alberta.canada...it's to bad more companies don't make more of these bikes so we have more options on what to buy.

Honda stopped making the Africa Twin in the '03 model year, so getting hold of a new one is gettting harder and harder. However there are plenty of second hand bikes, especially in France, Germany, etc.

Any Americans done the private import thing and like to comment on the hassles/pitfalls?

The vast majority of bikes in Japan are 400cc and below, due to their 2-stage licencing laws. Apparantly it's expensive and a pain to get the unrestricted licence so most folk bomb around on little bikes. So I doubt there's many Africa Twins on the streets of Tokyo.

i have brought 2 bikes to the us from canada , not exactly overseas but it gave me a look at us importation rules. you better have the EPA/DOT sticker, forms, letter , other wise it might be shit outta luck.

what is amazing is that any inbred SOB with a slp together harley can get tabs due to home built. I thought od going that route, import it in pieces. assemble it as my home built chopper.... w/ luck you get ther idea.

Here in Greece you can find an AT from 4000-7500 euros (this prices are for models `95 -`02)

I had one and i really loved it.
I sell it with 115000km with no problems

    Very nice! :thumb

Hey, am I seeing that right... does that Africa Queens setup use the TA tank? How funny if so... most TA guys would KILL for a AT tank to put on their bike!

Did you still have to use the fuel pump from the AT with the TA tank on it?

Don't believe it's a TA tank... It appears rather large.
But yes, you can put a AT tank in the TA, but you have to modify the sides of front fairing and adapt a AT seat.

Yes, because the fuel exit oh the tank stands bellow the carburator... or at same level.. I don't exactly remember... :nod
