I am converting an r100rt over to naked and plan to try a set of sidecar bars but suspect I will want to raise them a little from the standard fitment. Are there any custom riser clamps available that raise the bar another inch or so ? I have searched but can't seem to find anything ?
I have Rox risers on my g650x but want a cleaner look on the r100. Just another 1in taller than the stock clamps would be about right
I do it cheap and stack an extra set of lower handlebar clamps on longer studs. Wrap the stack in heat shrink for a better optic.
I guess the sound second set of bases would work, wouldn't look the best. I thought there must have been someone making taller bases or shims of correct profile but maybe not. I don't see any taller units on ebay.
Check out the handlebar risers on this page. I have a set and the machining is awesome. http://www.bamw.co.uk/parts/chassis.html
I have these laying around and could probably be talked out of them for a small phenominal fee. I did not use them on my 84 R100RS because they put the handle bars right in line with the steering damper :huh. K75RS bars worked out great however. Marc
I found these some time ago, and finally put them on the bike last week... love it, and as mentioned above, I can now get to the top of the fork tubes to work on fluid, etc....
I like the idea of these. I run a GS bar on my r80 and have short arms. I'd love to bring the bars slightly closer to my body, and the added benefit of access to the forks seems cool. How does it effect the ride? I know on a bicycle a longer stem (pushing the bars ahead of the axle) tends to make the bike hold a line better... in other words makes the steering less "tweeky". Is the same true by pulling the bars further behind the axle?
Perfect scarygary. This is exactly what I was looking for, much appreciated. I figured someone must make these. With my long arms barbacks are the last thing I need.
I found I was leaning too much, putting more weight on the bars with the original position...but I had changed from the original ST bars to a wider GS-style bar without much pullback. I am not-tall (!) and was worried about how it would affect the "rolling the bike around, putting it on the centerstand" kind of stuff. It has worked out OK. Did not change handling to any extent that I can tell... the bike rides awesome, no-hands-steady, anyway!
