Nothing more dangerous than an Aussie sportsman backed into a corner. All this talk of England having the upper hand was of course, total BS.

First day to the Convicts....hopefully that will change :D

I saw something on TV a few days ago where they were talking about the relative lack of interest in cricket in Australia at the moment :dunno

Very poor crowds to the lead up matches - there just so many bums that can be placed on seats down here. The 20 - 20 crap dominates on a few levels of cricket down here, and who wants to go and watch some team picked on money they have or some recent retirees against a team made up of wanna bees? - The Calender is packed and is dictating the Test Match programme

Lots of sport plus the sun is hot so beaches are the way to go.

Great response by the Poms - enjoyed Strauss's second dig - seems he did learn something from his stint at Mosman Cricket club :lol3

Onto Adelaide it seems - very hot, be a good toss to win.

Great Fightback by the English batsmen. But Australia have once again failed to nail it in the second innings after being ahead in the first. We saw that in India too, they just couldn't get the tail out.

The pitch is about as docile as a dead Labrador. Not all test wickets are prepared to suit the home team :brow

    Tricky.
There are very few people in World cricket who don't think Ricky Ponty is a cock.

Has any other team managed that England score of 517-1 against Australia?

Definitely appears to have been a batsman's wicket, not a bowler's :dunno

Never been a Ponting fan - Clarke wont make the grade either.

Ask yourself what has Stuart Clarke, Phil Jaque's et al done so wrong as not to be in this test side? - PONTING

I guess a lot of people in the media (inc. Shane Warne it seems) are forgetting the game was drawn and not a resounding success for England. Sure, last couple days were pretty good for England but the wicket was crap and first 3 days weren't that great for us.

I do hope England don't fall into the trap of believing the hype...

I hope there's a more even contest between bat and bowl tomorrow.
Perhaps for the first time in my life,I want Australia to win.More often than not,the underdog gets my support and Australia to me are the underdogs at Adelaide.

Good day for England for sure, but dominate :dunno

I also read a piece where the journalist said this was one of the best Ashes days for England. Ever :huh

Long long way to go in this test before we start throwing those plaudits around....

Indeed - I'm sure Mr Botham would have something to say about that, at least!
