I guess I'll add to the mill pics. I bought this used awhile back. Mainly it did small aluminum runs so it was in pretty good shape. They come in handy but the tooling costs can sure add up.
Ohhh that just ain't right. :huh That would be kool to get some of those old ones right out of the crate. Gary
Just bought the house a year ago, and every room needed serious work...so the garage will get some love this year I hope. But hey, there is a motorbike in there, so I'm happy.
Finally found the time to wire up my mill today after finishing up a couple of welding jobs. Mounted the TECO FM50 VFD and hooked her up. Having never heard one of these critters run, I "think" its okay. Only real "alarming" noise I hear is a sort of a chattering if I run her up to the higher end of the RPM range with the variable speed dial on the mill itself. Stay out of the last couple of hundred RPM it sounds fine.... sounds like a machine running. I use the term "alarming" 'cause its not purring quietly like it does at the lower speeds, which may be normal. Dunno. Regardless, I'm happy with my "no power up inspection" purchase from a dealer up in Joisey I knew nothing about. It was one of those "leaps of faith" things that appears as tho' it turned out good. I need some bits............
"no power up inspection" Yeaaa...that's always a nervous time for sure. Looking good, when you need some tooling..(right now)..give these guys a call. http://www.carbidedepot.com/ I have used them for most of my inserted tooling, and inserts. Also real knowledgeable too. Looking at the pictures I don't see the "cycle start"..or as its known around here the big green button... Gary
Thanks Gary. I'll give them a looksee once I figure out what I want initially. Right now I'm just using the drive's keypad to start and stop the machine. I'll wire up a remote FWD-STOP-REV station and 10-turn speed pot when I get a little free time. Still have some welding to finish up on a fella's trailer. Guy
Just made a bench and some shelves yesterday to dedicate 1/2 the garage as a shop. Nighttime iPhone pic.
Well, good news. I'll hopefully be upgrading my man cave. As a result, I'm being forced to upgrade the rest of the house via wifes orders... I'm upgrading this.... To this.... We close on the house May 31st. The contractor wanted 30days to do the bonus room upgrade which will add 3-400 sq ft to the layout of the house. Here is the rest of it.
COngrats! We closed and moved to our new house yesterday. It also has some serious man castle potential.
