Thanks for that. I think I'll stop back in on my wayback north.

I followed someone elses recommendation I've seen here a few times and rode the little road from Los Lirios to Santiago- great road for my DR650. A bit busy with ATVs down low on the east end (its the weekend) but a beautiful ride.

Small world...ran into ADVers Bryan and Laurie in front of a hotel in Linares this afternoon. We chatted for awhile in the zocalo.

As of 4.13 the nice hotel in Cataviña is called Mision Cataviña. (Recent rate 1150 pesos plus tax) Its sister hotel, Mision Santa Maria is farther North at San Quintin (the turn off towards the beach is Rancho Los Piños. When I stayed there last April it was 500 pesos/night) see my rr link below.

There's a few other hidden gems in the north that get bypassed frequently in the rush to get to the Bajio region and the colonial triangle. Parras de La Fuente is one of these bypassed towns and also Cuatrocienegas (more of a hamlet). I have ride reports on these places, but I took the pictures down when I migrated from photobucket to smugmug a couple of years ago and have been too lazy to edit back in the photos.

That is a pretty good weekly rate! Is that seasonal or is it a year long rate? :huh

I've been catching up on Mexico. Reading back posts, etc.

I'm contemplating a run south this fall or next spring. I would like to attend some festivals.

I did Sonora and Copper Canyon a few yrs ago and am thinking of a more east route this time.

If I waited till spring I could attend the bike jamboree in Mazatlan. Maybe south on the west coast, cross the Sierra at Mazatlan and back north. Also the WRC is in March, north of Leon.

Not sure if I can wait that long. I know lots of festivals start in Oct to Nov.

    Any advice?

Nice BBQ Bob. Saw your post a few minutes before heading to my good friend and inmate GSA Giuseppe's home for wood fire pizza. Like you this guy goes full out no matter what he does. Great Food!

^ A machine that belongs in the same league as your Ferrari coffee maker

    Wood fired pizza:

This and Tom's pizza oven make me wish there was one of these in my backyard

Until that happens, I have to go HERE

Next time anybody stops in San Antonio, take a break from BBQ, go there ^

Its funny, when you think about it: everybody you know likes pizza of one form or fashion

Note: There's great wood fired pizza to be had in Oaxaca :deal

That is the yearly rate Donnie, that particular room is a bit small and smells of Pine Sol.
